Focal 38KX vs Fi Q

Hi all, there is two choices in front of me and I would like to upgrade my subwoofer. Right now, I'm running Alpine PDX 1.1000 for my Focal 27V2 subwoofer. I feel the subwoofer is lack of power, but surely it has nice sound and accuracy. I often play funk jazz, easy listening as well as hip hop.

Which do you guys prefer between Focal 38KX (15" subwoofer) and Fi Q (12" subwoofer) considering the price is equal? Oh btw, I drive a sedan so the subwoofer will be in the trunk in a sealed box. So you can imagine how the focal 27V2 sound is blocked by the rear seat.

agreed...it's certainly not a power issue. A PDX 1000.1 should be plenty.

If I use ported box, would it make a big difference? If I flip down the rear seat, the sound of the subwoofer is awesome but not on normal condition. The problem is not on the amp, but the sub, don't you think so?

I'd be willing to bet its your box, not the sub.

Ill go with the Focal becuase it takes little wattage to make it sound good

This is a tough call. Focal is almost always a safe bet, but I feel the consumer gets more for their money from Fi then from Focal.
