Foam for behind the door speakers.

I was looking around a bit this weekend for egg crate foam, but couldnt find any at a few places i checked. Today i found a bunch of foam sheets that we already have in the house we used to use for another purpose.

The sheets are about 3/4 of an inch thick and are just plain flat foam sheets. I was wondering if this would be a replacement for the egg crate foam, or does the egg foam hold more acoustical properties?

Well, the egg pattern does help, but as long as it's closed-cell foam and it'll fit behind the window it'd work.

yes but ONLY use a closed cell foam. you don't want a sponge in your door.

walmart sells some closed cell egg crate style foam

$12 for a roll in the camping section

As long as it's foam rubber, it will be better than egg-carton foam... the later is for room treatments to control but not eliminate reflections.... behind a speaker, we want to eliminate as much as possible.
