Flipping breakers (home electric)

what size wire is going to that room? most suggestions here in this thread may be unsafe and risk fire and death. replace with the same amp one first then upgrade only after checking wire size to see if its big enough. If it has a 20 in it is it 12 wire already?

I go along with the ones that are saying try a new 20amp one first. I am having the same problem right now in my room with two computers and a large printer, with other smaller devices like router and modem, etc. Just try a new 20A one first, and if it keeps doing it, you might want to check the wire gauge that is running to your sockets first before putting a higher amp breaker in....Usually the wire that they run is big enough to safely do about 50% more without much problem though...anything more than that and you are going to have to run new wires in your attic or wall....

I wouldnt do it

Wire Sizing Chart

The following chart shows the proper wire size or wire guage ( awg ) for the desired current or amperage.

* The national electric code (NEC) specifies that the over-current protection device (breaker, fuse, or motor over-load) not exceed 15A for 14 AWG wire, 20A for 12 AGW wire, and 30A for 10 AGW wire.

Maximum Ampacity for Copper

and Aluminum Wire

You risk burning up your homerun wire going back to the breaker which could cause a Fire.... It may not happen right away but over time your wire will become more brittle as it heats up and cools down.... Just replace with a 20a breaker and if that dont work unplug some stuff or add another branch circuit to the room

replace breaker, goin to a 25 wont hurt but NOTHING bigger, rewire the house
Not the whole house. Just that room. Unless the state you live in requires you to rewire the whole house but they really only make u do that if your upgrading from fuses to breakers or going from two prong to three prong recepticles.. and of course there is ways to get around that also using GFCI recepticles

oh shit i wouldnt do the whole house lol. I meant that room. Replacing the breaker with a newer one is would I would do, but after that I would rewire that shit or add a breaker, but I know how cheap people are on here thats why i said 25.

I just seen he owns his house? I think. I would gank that shit out and rewire the house. If it was mine. 220 to the HT room and I would put gfci outlets only. I was assuming he was renting or not his house or something. My pops, 2 uncles, cousins, granpap, etc were firefighters. So just gfci in the kitchen and bathroom doesnt fly in my book.

Personally, instead of replacing that certain breaker, and possible causing harm to the house and wiring. I would add another circuit to half the room, that way each half of the room gets 20a.

Maybe im missing something.... How does you HT take 220??

so ive got a bunch of home electronic equipment in my house, and its throwing my breaker in this certain room, which only has a 20A breaker, is there anyway to just upgrade this one breaker to say a 30A +?
Lol I am just going to take a random shot in the dark here, but is said equipment running on 12 hour cycles?
