Damnnnnnnnnnnn dude.

Glad you're alive. Just makes you think how something could just break on your car and you would have no control of your life. Scary. Hope you get all fixed up soon!

I'm alive that's all that matters really, just a car. I have atleast 1 person every 5 min ask what happened to me. my response......"The first rule of fight club" most people don't get it.

glad to hear you are okay.

I experienced almost the same thing last Friday night when I was on my way home from college in Washington D.C. to Flint, MI

Just 40 miles away from home, I flipped my 95 Explorer. Both my friends walked away without any injury, my friend got bad whiplash thats all. Seat belts SAVED our lives as well.

I still cant believe that I am like this right now. I got nightmares last night and 2 nights ago.

I hit a black ice and then went side ways. When I got to the ditch/grass on the right from left side of the highway, the vehicle flipped and smashed mostly on the passenger side.

here are some pics:

I got very lucky. But hey you are alive, be glad. Hope for the best for you from now and on!

To everyone else: seriously, wear your seatbelts. I will wear it every second I am in the vehicle from now and on. Seriously I think I wont be here or at least badly injured if it was not for the seat belt. I walked away with just a scratch on my elbow thats it.

I hope someday I can be as cool as you.

Other useful info aside from seatbelt advice: When you're at speed and the car's suddenly not pointed where it's supposed to be, get off the brakes, get off the gas, turn the wheel in the direction you want it to go, and be smooth with steering input. Get the vehicle pointed in the right direction first, THEN brake or accelarate as needed.

Not to monday morning quarterback anybody or anything. It can be hard to think straight when the shit hits the fan. Who knows if I'll even have the presence of mind to be able to follow my own advice if it happens to me. I kick the rear end out and drift on snow and ice from time to time at low speeds for fun and I've had a little training but have never really lost it at highway speeds and had to deal with that situation. But it's advice worth keeping in mind.

Usually when an SUV flips and it hasn't tripped over something it's not the initial swerve or sudden turn that causes it. First there's the sudden lost of control with the car veering in the wrong direction. The first swerve. It's actually the sudden panicky jerk of the wheel in the opposite direction to try to countersteer too quickly and too drastically that seals the deal and puts a truck on its roof.

Thanks for the advice. It sounds good but really I had no time to react, if I would have even thought of facts like that I probably wouldn't have time to do anything.

Who knows? If eharri3 can't do it, no one can.

Glad you're okay though. I probably would have had a little mess in my pants if I did something like that...

dude you wont have any time to steer.

I know how to steer it back in course at low speeds without any problem, but in this wreck, I had NO time. I did try to turn it back but it was too fast and i hit the grass before I could do something.
