Flabby Sound when subs are plugged in together? Fine when plugged in separately.

ok first off i have 2 Alpine Type R 12" subs on an Alpine PDX 1.1000 amp.

I had the sub in my car for a year and never had a probem out of them at all. One day one of the subs sounded flabby like it wasnt getting powered. I had the subs checked and they are not blown. I have checked all the wires and fuses. When each sub is plugged in separately they play fine and louder than ever. When they are plugged in both at the same time they are super quite and flabby sounding.

I would just like some suggestions to what it could be. I was told it could be I had the polarities reversed. I would just like some suggestions on what to try.

use a DMM to make sure the coils are wired properly and use the same wiring conficurations on both subs just in case.. wire both posis and both negs together on each sub.. then the posi of coil 1 and the neg of coil 2 on both subs.. then wire to whatever ohm load you need.
