First upgrade build

Figure out how much you will have in the face plate kit and wire harness.

Then we can help you figure out the best course of action from there. Most of us here have some random things sitting around that would work great for your setup. I have a Alpine CDA-9813 with a KTP-445 head unit power pack I could sell you for a decent price.

the cheaper versions sell for 100-150. I would rather buy a nice headunit and save a little more for speakers than by a bad headunit and ok speakers.
May I ask what is wrong with a Boss head unit and do any of the Eclipse head units have an SD card slot? I'm mainly buying off amazon, I'd rather everything be new as well just so I have a backup plan incase I need to return it

Boss is a very cheap brand and made with a very low QC policy which results in a horrible overall product, not to mention they are built to be insanely cheap. Which means they use cheap parts, labor, and anything else to lower the cost.

If you are going new then look around a lot more for something of better quality but on that budget you may find yourself having issues finding what you want and staying in budget.

Sound quality, performance, eq settings and multiple item failures are a few things to start with.

Boss is just a run of the mill basics shop. they try to be innovative and make what people want but to keep prices down they have to use the cheapest possible parts. so whereas initial quality may be great and you get some functions you may not get elsewhere the longevity of your equipment is severely reduced.

**edit** dammit rabbit how fast do you type.

Alright, well I'm thinking of switching out the speakers I first thought of getting to

Infinity Reference 9633cf 6 x 9-Inch, 300-Watt High Peformance 3-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) (back)

Infinity Reference 5032cf 5.25-Inch, 135-Watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) (front)

Right now I'm at $152 with those two and the installation kit + wireharness

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/head-unit-classifieds/538216-eclipse-5443-a.html and infamous has the ipc if it works with this headunit

Ok so let us say I go with the setup listed below:

Infinity Reference 9632cf 6x9-Inch, 300-Watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) (back)

Infinity Reference 5032cf 5.25-Inch, 135-Watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) (front)

Would I need an amp or would a good powered head unit be sufficient, and what output of said head unit should I be looking for (ex. would the eclipse 5443 be sufficient in output?)

do components up front and if you have to have the 6x9's then get 2 ways.most decks will say 50-60 watts per channel , but thats max power ,look at the rms ratings ,but most won't be up to par on that end ,so an amp will be the best way to power your speakers.and as i said earlier i am a dealer on the forum here and sell alot of brands ,all new with a 1 year warranty on everything i sell.

I'm going to dump here but what do you need to get for the HU and power pack Rabbit? I've been looking for a HU upgrade...

So I should probably get an amp then or would say 4x 17-20RMS watt with 60-80MAX watt from headunit be alright?

edit: f it, i'll get an amp. I'm looking around and getting some info on what type of amp. Does anyone have info that comes to mind? I think 4-channel amp. But the RMS of the back speakers is 100W and the front are 45W. how would I do that?
