First timer that needs advice

Alright, I recently bought 2 15" kicker comps from a friend and they work great. Only thing is the amp that I got from him seems like they don't power the subs to their full potential (MRP M500). They are the 4 ohm comps wired down to 2 ohms. I found this amp online, it seems powerful and it's cheap as well, Power Acoustik CPT1-2200D. I wanted to ask if this amp would be too powerful for the subs if they are wired down to 2 ohm or would it even matter? I also have another concern. I feel like too many of the bass notes are being passed through to my door speakers and not to my subs. Would this be something I'd have to change on my amp in order to have my subs play more of the bass notes that I don't want played on my door speakers?

Thanks for any advice. I appreciate it all!

Yea it's the black face. They are in their seperate boxes, ported. The gain is all the way down if that's what you are asking and I'm not sure about the bass boost.

The amp's gain was set to a point.. I'm not sure where and the gain supposedly overheated and I had to take it back to the shop that hooked it up and they set the gain down and had to reset the entire system... they claimed it wouldn't happen anymore as long as I kept the bass down... so I figured I'll just get a bigger amp but I'm not sure how much bigger

Those low end kicker cant handle any more then the 500. You need to set your gain with a ddm, Its not likely the shop set it right. All the way down isnt right. When I had my MRP-M500 the gain was about 75% at the proper voltage.

If you have an aftermarket head unit, chances are there will be a high pass filter you can set to make the bass not come through your speakers.

I don't know anything about your amp problem. You could try to set the gain with a digital multimeter, but if the amp overheated once, maybe you should consider getting something else. Again, I have no idea if it was fixed properly or anything, so I don't know.

Im using that amp right now. Its defenitely strong enough for those subs.
Im running a single jl 15 and my gain is set at half.

Did you look at the gain? Because there is an 'optimum' spot labeled. It should atleast be at that.
I had one a few months ago and I had it pushing two 12W3s. They could of used mor but not much

Hmm I think it may be 8 gauge wiring I'm not sure and well I'll have to take a look at the gain set-up I remember the guys telling me it was set all the way up and they tried blaming me for that.. but I hadn't touched the gains so idk I'll double check everything and report back and I guess I got it to hit a little harder by just setting the bass up on my stereo but still I don't know how to filter the bass from the doors because I don't have an aftermarket headunit so I'll see if I can figure anything out
