First time getting car mods done, need help!

Hi, I just recently got my license about 3 months ago (I'm only 16). Long story short, my parents wanted to get me a new car so they bought me an 09 Lancer. Yes I know, its only the ES, not even the GTS. But hey, it was free, good mileage, and I can carry lots of people in it. Anyways, I've been saving and working for a bit, and was able to come up with around $1800.

Here are a list of things I would like to get done.

-Tint

-New Rims

-New system (Head unit, and 2 subs in the trunk)

And then possibly

-New Pedals

-New headlights

-New Seats

So I was wondering, what would I need to know to get these done?

For the tint, I have a place in town that has a good rep that I know will do a good job. But is there anything else I should know going into it?

As for everything else, I have no idea what to do for it. I don't quite understand how to get a new tire/wheel combination that will fit my car etc etc.

Any kind of input on any of these will be greatly appreciated.

tint: have a shop do it

rims: pick something that you like, pretty simple there

system: there is a wealth of knowledge on these forums. Buy decent gear (a lot of non mainstream stuff on here is killer and at a great price), learn how to properly install (box designing, etc). use the SEARCH function on these forums, it'll help a ton.

I don't think you'll be able to do all of that do 1800 unless you get crappy stuff all around. You can probably get the tint done at a quality place, then either new wheelss and tires or a system.

Just go to a shop for tint, it's a no brainer. Will probably be around $250.

For wheels and tires, go to places like discounttiredirect.com or tirerack.com and it's just a matter of searching for something you like.

Tint should be around $200. I'd go system next. A Lancer ES isn't going to look cool no matter how much you spend

you could run down to walmart and grab a pair of 12's for $50 i bet.

or, you could grab a pair of RE XXX's or critical mass UL12's for a grand.

Oh, also forgot to mention. I'm also looking for a new exhaust, muffler, whatever you want to call it. And no, I don't want some huge 19 foot diamater pipe where it sounds like a jumbo jet is coming down the street. Just a nice modest one, something that looks better then the ugly one that comes stock ha.

I know the least about exhaust, so anything at all would be amazing as well!

take your time with your mods. you dont spend money on something 6 months down the line your gonna hate. make your decisions wisely,do your research and you'll be fine.Stay away from Pepboys exhaust.Check for a Mitsubihi forum for performances mods they'll point ya in the right direction

Before you buy anything join a GOOD Mitsubishi Lancer forum.

Only come to this forum for Audio related questions and not audio questions specific to your car.

budget 200 for window tint(no it shouldnt cost that but would hate to underbudget)

so now you have 1600.

i would suggest system wise

Alpine 9886 for headunit. costs around 300?

for subs i would say a pair of audioque 2.5 12"s should also be around 300ish

amp i would say an audioque AQ1200D which costs around 250

so far for audio i have suggested 850

for the next 150 i would go get some nice wire

you can get some decent coax speakers for your front are rear stage and run them off of head unit. i would budget 200 for those.

so far i have spent 1400 of your budget so that leaves you with 400 left, i would use that to buy a nice 4 channel to power front and rear stage speakers

if you end up getting new wheels make sure you know your car wont sit higher than stock with them on.

Nothing worse than a car with new wheels that sits higher than a jeep. suspension would most likely be necessary if you get new wheels.
