First system, need Help

This is my first system (1) JL Audio e6450 (2) JL Audio 10w1, (4) Boston Acoustic somethings.

The sales guy is telling me that I need a "Mixer" by Audio Control in order to boost my db"s and that it will clean up my sound by upping the voltage of my preouts.

Dont know if I described this correctly, but can someone help me. I dont want to waste $200 for nothing
