First Stereo and I want to do it right

So I've been looking into getting a car stereo put in for quite sometime. Though I know nothing I've been looking into it a lot and have been trying to learn. I however keep hitting a couple things I don't get. Anyway I work at CCity and am picking up a sick discount (50% off) from all eclipse products so I figure I'd use it. Tell me what you think of this setup.

Source: Pioneer DEH-P6800MP

Fronts: Eclipse SC8264

Rears: Eclipse SP6900

Subs: Eclipse SW7000 x2 (sealed enclosure)

Amps: Eclipse EA4000 and Eclipse XA1000 x2

Now I saw alot on the SW8000's and I am really interested but I don't know if they' are gonna be powered sufficiently with the XA1000. I think all of these components will work well with each other. Any input would be more than greatly appreciated.

see originally i was going to do an eclipse deck because they had better preamps but i just didn't like the look and interface so i opted for the pioneer which i already have installed. it was a nice buy like 200 for the deck with my discount heh. but as far as the subs go do you think it'll be ok as far as the proper wattage? like will everything be ok? hah i just wanna make sure i shouldn't be upgrading anywhere. does anyone know if the 8000's would be a huge differance? it's like gonna cost me an extra 120 to go with a set of 8000s so its tempting i just want to know if i'd have to get a different set of amps. as of right now i have an amp per sub.

Hey Right now the Eclipse decks are about the best around! The 5000 and up all have 8v pre-amps, compared to Alpine's best 2v, not even close, meaning the eclipse will play much cleaner than any alpine and I have an Alpine. Plus u have the are-shot navigation and my absolute favorite things 1.) Time Allignment and 2.) it takes a Memory stck right below the CD slot, yea the same ones that digital cameras use. You just format it on ur computer for Mp3s and not Jpeg. Who needs an Ipod or CDs when you can put all those sonds on that little thing, its only like an inch long and half inch wide. I have an Eclipse deck right now still in the box, brand new, wish I did'nt have to sell it. I would most definatly go with an Eclipse deck!!

Wow... wish I had a memory stick then I could play hide the sausage with all my friends and not be the only one who wasn't a total ***. Also, I'm pretty sure he wasn't even thinking about buying an Alpine, and further I doubt you'd find anyone who would argue that this year's Alpine lineup doesn't **** for sound processing. Also, your Alpine has 4v outputs... Like mine. Oh wait what? So does the PXA-H701 which is still a current model? I almost forgot.

Seriously though the Pioneer 6800 is a good deck, even if your discount price wasn't actually that great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif . Some Eclipses are a lot better, personally if I got accommodation price on Eclipse I would be buying a CD7000. For the money your Pioneer is a great unit (especially at half the retail price of the CD7000). As far as the question regarding subs, if you are going to upgrade the subs you will generally need to upgrade the amp too to accommodate the improvement. Keep that in mind, if you can't afford the bigger amp don't up the ante on the subs.

By the way, your high quality audio CD's were mastered and recorded on 4dBu recording equipment, (at best) which equates to about 1.3V RMS.

It's what an amplifier is for. Just set the gains correctly. A crap signal at 100v is no better than a crap signal at 2v. A higher voltage merely extends your transmission distance. If you have very, very long RCA's, and junk ones at that, then you may need to run a higher voltage from your source so you actually have anything left by the time you get to the amp.

But this notion that a higher voltage is better is flawed, because you shouldn't be having a huge voltage drop in the first place to need the 8v preouts. Band-aids aren't the solution...
