Hello all! Obviously my first post here, but ive been lurking for a few weeks since i am planning on my firat sound system. Ever since i heard my cousins 2 12 solo x with two phoenix gold amps when i was little ive dreamt about having a comparable system.

I am planning on running 2 15 l7s 2ohm with 2 zx1000 2ohm amps and eventually upgrade to 3 amps. I am looking to buy a ported box but if worse comes to worse, ill build my own. I have a pretty big trunk though. Cadillac coupedeville 1985.

I am also thinking two batteries since i dont want to change my alternator

could definitely do better for the money. But if you already bought the equipment or are set on it, be sure you build a good ported box yourself or get one built for you, please don't buy a prefab...

Welcome. If you already have the equipement, do the best you can with it and make a custom box.. If you don't have the subs and amps yet, I would do some more lurking as you can do much better for the same price.

whatch yo self...you know these foos cant even afford L7's ans zx1000's ..lol. OP, there are a few good folks here that will design, build or both. All you need is to get the dimensions that they will need.

EDIT: That really makes no sense, let me rephrase... My good friend told me that his brother had a pair of 15 inch L7's and it was the loudest system he has ever heard

cousin has l7 15's. Very loud and sound like shit. However it is a prefab ported box, which is why I said make sure he builds his own. I have heard quite a few subs in prefabs that still sound much better and do get loud. Based on msrp you can get a sundown Z for 50 less, which i would take any day having heard both.

Many people say this. I understand there is a lot more cone area at work vs any round 15" sub.

I will get 2 15 inch subs and 2 zx1000 amps, all brand new out of box, AND YES obtained legally for under $700 dollars. That is the main reason why i went with those. I wanted 2 12 solo x or 2 12 w7s but no way i could afford to power those as fast as the l7s. The extra money from budget will go to cables, dynamat, etc

If that is the case, get someone to design you a box and build it yourself or have it built. Do not buy a prefab box. it will make or break that system

Thank you all for your input! It is not too late to get 2 12s instead so they have more cubic feet. I want SPL over SQ so from what Ive read, the more cubic feet the box has, the better for ported? Basically:

2 15s with 2 zx1000 ported

Vs.

2 12s with 2 zx1000 ported

Same trunk
