Title is not entirely true. I needed a formula to find port area. I am doing a strictly SPL competition setup for two L7 10s. I will use another box for daily driving.
Kicker reccomends for max spl a 2.25 cf box. So here is what I did and let's see if it makes sense.
Tuning is 40 hertz with ssf @ 25 hertz. I have to play music in MECA AS1 and AS2 so I can't tune very high.
2 x 2.25 = 4.5 cf
+ port... 3.75(w) x 12.5 (h) x 10 (d) for a total port volume of .271 cf
+ bracing.... 2*(2*2*12.5*.5) = .029 cf (for the rounding of corners)
+ bracing.....2*(2*2*.75*.5) = .002 cf ( just regular bracing)
total of 4.8 CF
If I could figure out how to post a pic I would but here is a general idea:
I would have the rear panel 35" x 14"
the fron panel would be 31.25" x 14" (less because of the port)
Each side would be 15.5" x 12.5" (you have to subtract 1.5" because of width of mdf).
Top and bottom would be 35" x 17"
I did this mostly by hand. I want to see how good it is.
