Okay, heres my first box ive ever tried to build on my own. Its 6 cubes gross, approx 4 cubes net after port displacement. She's made with .75" MDF (too thin?) and was made today in school in about 3 hours. Table saws FTW. So heres a pic of her before i cut out terminal cup holes and the top of the box where the speakers will be mounted.

How am i doing?

Looks nice. What's going in it?

I wish I could have had the room in my 240 for a decent enclosure. The **** hatch is just too shallow. I also had my mountain bike in there all the time which made it even more impossible.

memphis m-class 12s.. firing up, which explains the 12" height.

Well i put the lid on it, and she looks pretty good from the front... one of the sides got a bit messy with the glue, and was a bit short on one side (bout 1/8" gap between lid and side!) but nothing a good bit of caulk cant fix. I took it home from school and i must say, **** im good. It fits within half an inch all the way around the trunk, and the hatch almost sits on it when its closed. This thing better sound beastly or ill be mad lol.

Should i use polyfill in the box? What would it do... ive only used it in sealed boxes before...

looking good bro...
whatever happend to the type X?
lol... well funny story... i had the sub in the car within the first few days of having the car on the road. The box was an odd shape for my hatch area, and wasnt very user friendly. Also, if you recall the X's are dual 4 ohm only and the lowest ohm load power rating listed for my amp is 4 ohms. Ive heard of ppl putting 2 and 1.5 ohm loads daily and 1 ohm for burping, but my amp has had a blown channel sometime in its life and im wary of the repair's integrity, so i ran it at 8 ohms. 500w, if that, was getting to the sub. I didnt like it at first, then it started to break in a bit, but i still didnt like it that much. I dont think i gave it enough play time to really get to its peak. Then my HU began to crap on me. It started skipping and got horrible FM reception and all kinda garbage, so i went back to my old memphis subs and sold the X to fund a new HU. I bought a CDA-9856. I hope to eventually get another Type-x once i get an amp suitable for the sub...

Okay i have a problem with my box. I think its too **** big, and it flexes a bit. Its very boomyand rapes low end and shakes the house (lol) but it doesnt hit all the frequency ranges like i think it should. The beats are a bit clumsy too. I think its because the front baffle (top of the box) is too thin. Would adding another piece of MDF on top screwed and glued on help the box? How would this affect sound? Also, Would polyfill do me any good?

Oh and btw, plans changed. Currently the box if for my SX 12, and i hope to get another soon. Ill have updated pics soon.
