Finally got my sub (12" SS RL-p); ghetto install is temporary...

Picked this sub up from itzme218 last Friday for $160 including the box. Pretty good deal I'd say. Box is 2.0 @ 32hz. It wouldn't fit in the trunk opening no matter how hard we tried to fit it. I took all the trunk panels off, unbolted the latch, etc. Wasn't going through the rear seat opening either because of the brace. Oh well. Took the rear seat cusion out, folded down the seat backs and set it on top for the drive home.

Got some time yesterday, so I took the spare tire out and got it in there, then I lifted the box up and had a buddy slide the tire under. Only thing is there was no way I was getting the mat back in under the box so meh. This box is temporary until I get my IB setup done. Got a LOT of sound deadening to order...

Threw a moving blanket back there to cover the spare tire and provide a little sound deadening for now. My car didn't have many rattle to begin with though. Looks so ghetto with the bungee cords tethering it to the rear brace; literally pains me to see wires and bare metal in the trunk. It's ok though, once I get the rear seat delete/IB setup/amp rack all done it will be all cleaned up. This is just to get me through the next couple of weeks until I'm out of school. What do you think?

Also got my KnuKonceptz speaker wire (KL3, 4ft of 10 gauge for sub, 35 ft of12 for mids, 40 ft of 14 for tweets) and RCAs (4m Krystals) in to replace all the other stuff in there. I hate the **** Monster Cable ones. They pulled the daamn RCA inputs right out of the fuggin amp!

Forgot, I also got 14 ft of 12 gauge Kasa cable for my new remote wire, and 4 ft of red and black Fleks 8 gauge for the sub. Next order is going to be about 20 ft of 1/0 Fleks red and 10 ft of 1/0 Fleks black for the Big 3 and for my power wire run.

surprised u got that in the trunk cant fit jack ish in my stang //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif conv no coupe though

Um yeah, you don't even know how long I spent trying to shove that box in there. Then I said screw it and took the spare tire out and it dropped right in. I know it isn't the WORSE install in history, but to my OCD eyes, it is a very sore sight. That and I have like NO trunk space anymore because of my rear shock tower brace. The box was very nicely built...only thing I can complain about is that a.) it's pretty **** heavy, but then I know a lot of you guys are running WAY bigger stuff so that doesn't really count as a negative, but b.) I don't like the speaker wire coming out of the port. Looks sloppy.

I think my buddy is going to use the box though. If a 12" AA Assassin will work well in it. If not, you can have it for the cost of shipping, but I really would rather not ship it. I'm in NorCal, you're in LA....

Sounds really good actually. Definitely louder than my 2 10" Type R's sealed that I had before. And it's only running off 500w (probably less as I haven't done Big 3 yet). And yeah, the bungee cords. I hate em, but it's what I had laying around and the box does not move. I just didn't want to take the time to do it properly with L-brackets, when I'm pulling this box out in two weeks...

BTW, this is one of the first gen RL-p's from the group buy in 2006. It is logo-less and it has the triple stacked magnets that come on the 15" version only now. The surround looks a little faded in the pics...what can I put on it to make it look new again? Back-to-Black or maybe tire shine?
