Finally got my RE8 hooked-up!

Dual VC has nothing to do with excursion.
It is past it's excursion limits.

You need to turn down the Low pass below 100hz.

You are clipping the amp with the gain and boost that hi. Re set your gain with a DMM refer to the gain setting tutorial.

Build a box no bigger than .75ft^3 ported.

You are expecting too much from that 8" speaker. Trust me I have 2 of them. There great but you are abusing them.

These are just the facts and if you do not adhere to them, you will eventually blow something. We are just trying to help. It's up to you to do it or not.

Good luck.

Amp freq set to 100hz

I don't have an o-scope or a DMM so i'll set the gains up half way and see if I hear any clipping when I hear the sub with the trunk open. Thank you man, Definately the sub is going to sound more accurate and cleaner and I don't have to worry about blowing anything. Because when I seen the excursion of the sub I

immediately knew something was wrong. I thought to myself "No, I don't see the re8s in ROE wang this hard!" hehe....

friend had a VR2... sold it for 10 bucks the other day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Yes if those are internal dimmensions that box is to big.
.24-.5 sealed

.3-.75 ported

Try to stay within these sizes.
I have a bandpass enclosure that is

H = 10.25"

W = 15"

D = 10.25"

10.25x15x10.25/1728=0.91200086805555555555555555555556

Still too big??

Hey tRiGgEr, By the way I set the freq to 100hz and set the gains about 3/4 and the sub has an excursion like the regular re8 videos you see on ROE. Sounds pretty loud too. I still shake my house glasses, bathroom door knobs and ceiling lights but my rosary (Cross hanging from mirror) don't fly around like last time.

But the bottom line is that im not clipping my amp OR abusing the sub.. Everything is normal and under control //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif. Just the box is too big some say so yeah, should I use the bandpass box that my optimus pro series sub was in? will it sound louder in the bandpass or shall I seal it?
