i have a 15 BTL in a dodge grand caravan and its not even close to as loud as i want it, its actually not all "that" loud. Van's without alot of subs = FTL

Yes gains set with a dmm and no clue on port area I didnt desin the box I just built it.

Maybe Ill play with them gains a bit

It's still not limiting the amplifiers output. It's for matching the input from the head unit. It does NOT stop the amp from putting out its potential. Lowering a gain only means you have to turn up the volume louder to reach the amp's full potential. Which is counter productive as turning MOST head units up to full volume will clip the preouts and send a clipped signal to the amps. But whatever, I was off topic anyway.

Let's say you have an hu with a 4volt preout. You then set your gains to only produce rms wattage at 6volts. Guess, who's not ever going to see RMS......

I've done a 136.5 with 300 watts on a single 12" (termlab as well).

So you are not familiar with the notion of 'headroom' with amplifiers? Interesting.
Like t3mpest said, it is in fact limiting amplifier output. You are mistaken, sorry.
