Port area on the enclosure?
I'm guessing you used the DMM method to set your gains... maybe you should try using your eyes and ears to set your gains.
Let's say you have an hu with a 4volt preout. You then set your gains to only produce rms wattage at 6volts. Guess, who's not ever going to see RMS......It's still not limiting the amplifiers output. It's for matching the input from the head unit. It does NOT stop the amp from putting out its potential. Lowering a gain only means you have to turn up the volume louder to reach the amp's full potential. Which is counter productive as turning MOST head units up to full volume will clip the preouts and send a clipped signal to the amps. But whatever, I was off topic anyway.
