Finally got around to ordering a new gaming CPU

meh, it's aight. You could do better for the price though. ATi is currently ahead of Nvidia as far as graphics go i believe. 4870 is a badass card. SLi is a big waste of time and money. Save some and get a single slot mobo and get the better GFX Card or better CPU.

Tell me what you think...

Ultra M923 Full Tower ATX Case

XFX nForce 780i 3-Way SLI Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory

Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 500GB Hard Drive

XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card

Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply

Ultra / ChillTec / Socket 775 Thermal CPU Cooler

$1,156.68 Shipped to my door and then $100 mail in rebate.

I have the same video card and it OWNS. Any new game on maximum settings doesn't even get it over it's ambient temperature (even though the ambient temperature is 51c). But you should've told me first... I would've told you about a Corsair PSU that blows every other PSU out of the water. The 12v line is something like 52 amps.

ATIs power hungry BS and heat issues are hardly worth the little gain.

I say break out the COD4 and start kill'n folks.
I think you did just fine too. Screw CoD4, go grab the new FarCry2, it's awesome!

btw, I just got a new GTX260 and OC'd it. It plays farcry2 on everything maxed at 1920x1200 LCD.

Decent, thoughI probably would've avoided Nvidia altogether given ATI's dominance lately as well as Nvidia's mediocre motherboard chipsets.

This is what I just built for my friend:

2 x AMD Opteron 2347 HE Quad Core CPUs (8 cores OCed to 2.28 GHz/core)

2 x Scythe Katana 2 CPU Coolers

8 GB PC2-6400 Registered ECC DDR2 SDRAM

ATI Radeon HD 4850 Graphics

500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Hard Drive

Tyan Dual Socket F Server Motherboard

600W Seasonic M12 Modular Power Supply

LG DVD Burner

Chieftec Fullsize E-ATX Chassis

Windows Vista Business 64-bit

Total = $1176 CAD (taxes and shipping included)

Converted to USD, that equals $941 USD
