Decent, thoughI probably would've avoided Nvidia altogether given ATI's dominance lately as well as Nvidia's mediocre motherboard chipsets.
This is what I just built for my friend:

Only downside is your motherboard is Socket 939, which limits your choices severely as S939 CPUs are no longer available through the retail channel, so anything you find is either old stock or used.since there are a few hardware knowledgable people in the thread at the moment i am in need of some quick assistance.my computer currently is running on a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum mother board. well, the compatible cpus
• Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon™ 64FX/64 processor (Socket 939)
• Supports 3000+, 3200+, 3500+, 3800+, 4000+, FX53 and FX55
and on the website it shows that it's Athlon dual-core X2 ready.
should i look for a new processor that's an Athlon X2?
on newegg i see that the majority of the processors they have are A-X2. think it's safe?

The new Phenoms can be pretty good values if you buy them at the right time. A few weeks ago, Newegg had the Phenom X4 9600 BEs (4 x 2.3 GHz) for like $110, which is ridiculously cheap. I've also seen the 9950 BEs for $165 about a month ago (The slighly slower Q6600 normally hovers between $190 and $230 CAD).
Opteron vs. Xeon = No contest in performance vs. price. FB-DIMMs drive the prices WAY up. Only downside is the Opterons can't compete at the higher-end these days.
