not to discourage you but having all your settings in the car at your finger tip helps alot.

scanspeak > hybrid audio

If you don't have any issues with home audio drivers in your car, I think scanspeak is superior in price and performance. Just make sure you protect any drivers in your door from water, its so sad to see people selling something like an 8531g with a bunch of holes in the cone and water damage on the motor

Well... took the first part to the plunge... bought the LRx6.9. What's better for factory integration? the Alpine PX unit or a Audison Bit unit?

HAT is where it's at, but unless your midrange location is dash level or higher, it won't be worth doing a 3way setup over a 2way setup. you'll still have some deflection which is the only reason I see a benefit in a 3way setup (high midrange is grreeeeaaaatttt)

my mid is off-axis in my kick. you can't localize it, entire soundstage is above the dash.

high mids are great if you're willing to cut up your dash. otherwise they are too close to you. remember, we are working with ITD and HRTF when it comes to mids.

The mids are located about 2/3's of the way up the door and they are aimed from the factory at the exact middle of the car. Here's a pic to help illustrate location.

Just up and to the right of the seat pre-set buttons.

Why do I need the Bitone if the LRx6.9 can do crossing? Is it mainly for T/A?

yes, crossing and eq. the LRx has an excellent built-in crossover, but the bitone has more flexibility with slope.

those door locations can sound nice with T/A.
