Finally get to upgrade the computer

well been wanting it for a while, built my computer in 06, so its getting a little dated

it was a pentium D dual-core and 2gigs of ram, originally 1, on an asus board

Been researching for a bit and trying to find good deals, i landed on this setup

ASUS P7P55d EVO

Core i5-750

4gb ram

I dont play games any more so im gonna keep my 7900gt card and what ever else i have in there, also got win 7 64 bit from the student thing downloaded

Cpu had 12% bing cash back and board was like 40$ off, now im just trying to see if i want to get a caviar black 1tb hdd

I wont get to install it till wednesday, my comp is back at the apt

I will get mor epic slater, i just didnt want to pull anyhting out

Unless he's doing image/video editing, he will barely be able to use 4GB. I play a lot of games, and do video editing. I have yet need more than my 4GB.

i dont do any heavy ram stuff, a little bit of pic and vid editing, but it works good with the 2gb i have now, 4 should be plenty for me, plus i didnt want to spend a 100$ more

i wouldnt of gotten it, msrp is like 200$, newegg had it for $154 with a coupon, i dont really need any of the features over the p7p55d, but for 5$ more why not, it looks awesome in person

well went ahead and got my new hdd, sold the old one with windows still on it

caviar black 1tb

using it now, had some problems coming up but i think its all good now, kept getting explorer.exe crashing and then bsod, but uninstalled some junk and tried some stuff i read and seems to be good now

fast multitasking

DDR2 memory or DDR3? either way, prolly shoulda gone for a board that takes DDR3

Asus makes good stuff. My asus laptop is indestructible. Just add some extra cooling and overclock the GPU and youll be good to go.
