The pioneer is basically the same price as the alpine, but the pioneer is refurbished, basically brand new. They both are like $980. Now, the major differences are is that pioneer has navigation. Do I really need it? I dont know, but its something good to have I guess once in awhile just nice to have. I have played with the avic-n1 and its slow with the hour glass loading the mp3 cd and scrolling. I havent tried the alpine, but the alpine looks nice the graphics and its a 7" screen. Pioneer doesnt come with a remote and I dont think any remote is compataible thats a nice one like the cd-r5 is for avic-n2. I also can get the same price for the avic-n2, but Im not saudering jumpers together. Its basically same thing with newer software. What do you think? I keep going back and forth. The thing I dont like about alpine is with the indash is closed, it doesnt even display the clock. Thats so dumb.

bigman, I do believe that you can get the clock to display on the Alpine when the unit is closed. I'll double check my owners manual though to make sure.
I talked to someone that has it, you cant. Also I remember seeing a con in a review about that.

who needs that shit anyways look at your cell phone for the time, i dont even kno how to set the clock on my HU or how to display it lol, i just leave it so it displays the file name

Ok, now getting back. Do yout think the pioneer is better overall? It has that dam navi built it, which is nice in the city and just in general.

according to the owners manual, the subdisplay will display the clock. once i get mine installed i will know for sure.
Alpine said you have to hold down flat button for 3 sec. Let me know when you get it installed and how it is. Im just debating because navi is kind of nice.
