fiberglassing my trunk...pics!!!

the enclosure fits so tight in the trunk that i always need someone to help me move it.

i have to add some serious bracing over the large panels and build the baffle with lots of fiberglass and mat.

total thickness of panels is 5-6mm but is strong as 19mm mdf.

do you have any ideas how to measure the volume of the enclosure???it has a lot of bends and curls and can't calculate accurately.

i tried filling the enclosure with water but had some leaks and need to fix this first.

first off, u went about it completely wrong. u need to use wood for the majority of that box. the sides/front piece/bottom should ALL be wood. theonly thing glassed should be the baffle and back wall.

that thing is so weak i gauruntee u. ur wasting money glassing it all and hurting performance.

lol the only thing your gaining is flex. thin walls dont help your enclosure EVER
indeed, and it saves money doing all you can out of mdf also, but im sure you know that now, lol, but it also depends on what woofers you are using if they are low excurions woofers you really shouldnt have any problems, but a good woofer will flex the hell outta that box, a real big woofer could even blow it apart //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

the only way your going to get that to not resonate is to put mdf on the large panels of the fiberglass on the inside of the enclosure and add matt and resin overtop of it

i HIGHLY suggest it, otherwise your in for a world of hurt

Very bad choice going with all fiberglass. MDF is exponentially stronger for flat surfaces.

I'd honestly just suggest scraping that all together, start over and do it the right way.

i have a question as to how mounting the rings that way is going to work

Was wondering that same thing. Along with most everyone else, I think you should have built the majority out of mdf. But since you have come this far, how much flex are you dealing with ? Before you add anymore mat, I would glass in some mdf ribs, or some rope ribs to stiffen it up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
