I currently have a large wooden box for my 2 12" Kenwood W3012 Subwoofers I've been considering building my own out of clear fiberglass but now sure how to go about it. Has anyone here done this and have any tips on making a good sounding box? I plan on putting blue neon in it and porting it but would like to hear some honest feedback on this.

Thanks alot

there is no clear fiberglass.

i think you are thinking of plexi glass?

if you get the right thickness plexi, it wouldnt sound any different than any other box. but thick plexi glass in the amount you need will be quiet expensive.

no worries.

Yea I've heard plexiglass isn't cheap I'm just wondering if there is a specific size and way to construct it that would help me. I'm thinking of just using metal brackets on the corners unless I can actually screw the pieces together without brackets, I guess a thickness would probably help me better in deciding that.

Both subs are 1200 watt 4 ohm 400 watt rms the amp is 800 watt, 3/4 to 1" sounds like it would work I wasn't sure how thin I should go without it being real flimsy. Thanks guys now all I need to do is look up some prices.. oh boy

1/2" walls with (presumably, since it will be clear) no internal bracing? Sounds like a recipe for fail to me.

Unless you are a very good craftsman, I dont suggest attempting a completely plexi enclosure. IMO you'd be better off with a more traditional wooden box that utilizes plexi windows to get the visual effect you want. A much more realistic goal if you are a beginner to box building.
