Fiberglass kick panel for Integra - beta version - PICS

Thanks guys, packing peanuts FTW.

How do I get the extra glass off of the back? I was thinking sanding would be the only way, but that's a helluva lot of sanding. What should i get, orbital sander? Right now I don't have any kind of sanding tool besides my dremel.

On with the pics.

This first pic is the back showing the extra glass that I need to get rid of.

And finally inside my Integra.

i think it came real good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

is the extra glass on the back hurting anything?

Thanks pal. Not too shabby for my first time, but the next ones will be much better. All straight edges, sharper edges and corners, and I think I'll paint them a high gloss black.

The problem with the extra glass is that it makes the back of the kick impossible to sit perfectly flat against the interior, and I need it flush to vent into the frame. I don't care about this test piece, but for the real ones I'll need them smooth on the back.

as long as that thing is sealed up it shouldnt need anymore room, the type r speakers arent really known for sounding good.
No they really do need more room or IB. There is next to nothing as far as volume that kick and the speaker is made for IB.

They don't sound great to begin with, but the midbass could be far better than what it is now. Once I vent it I'll know for sure.

Don't ever speak to me again.

J/K

I can't believe they lost though, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

It's ok though, it is our first win.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

But onto your kicks......if they are not properly strengthened, then it will affect their sound.

And after all, you did use Alpine co-ax's.

what is your plan for venting it, making a tube from the enclosure that goes into the door? or an actual port venting into the cabin?

Yeah yeah, I know they aren't great speakers, but I had them in my doors for a while before this so I know exactly how much midbass they should have and the minimum quality of that midbass, and this kick is far from it.

Honestly I don't have a clue. I was going to cut an opening into the A-frame and vent it into that, but I don't know how and I haven't seen any guides from anyone else who's done it.

This assumes that I'll even do another kick. Since venting it doesn't seem like an easy thing to do I might go with doorpods instead.
