Fiberglass Help

I have a 1984 cutlass supreme, the trunk is exactly like Maylar's and on the right side is the spare tire. I was wondering if I taped that with masking tape, basically just going from the top of the trunk to the bottom then putting resin on it would it work? Is there anything else that I could do? Just trying to clean my trunk up a bit. I wanted to fiberglass because you can do alot more with it.

No camera or I sure as hell would. Oh well its all a learning process, I will try not sure if I will suceed or fail.
