Fi Q 12's or Polk Audio SR 12's

SQ is the real deal
Last minute second guessing myself. I can ge the Polks for a hair cheaper. Both seem to be incredibale subs. Both will be in sealed enclosures for a SQ car. I repeat this is a SQ car. Price isn't the issue here, but I don't want to regret the decision. I will be powering them with the RAA1000 (1000wrms) and running a pair of them. What would you choose and why? **** I hate this decision, I might upgrade to a Zapco 9.0 if I can get a response from someone. Thats the details...explain your ideas.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Are you talking about 2x 12"s and 1000 RMS to each? Or 1000 RMS total.

The Q's probably won't like 500 RMS each a whole lot, unless you just want a tad bit of extra bass with good SQ, or something. Ask Scott to put Dual soft spiders on the Q's for that amount of power, however.

yes two 12's with 1000wrms total. If i upgrade to the zapco it would be in the 1100 watts each. If I did ask for soft spiders wat would the rms rating be on them? Would i be better going with the SSX instead, and if so how is the sound quality compared to the Q?

As for a "tad" more bass, I have heard the Polks in my car with that amp and it was alot more than a tad more bass.

By SSX did you mean SSD? I've heard that the SQ on the SSD is not comparable at all to the Q.

I'm not even fully sure if he offers Dual Soft Spiders on the Q, but I've seen it on the SSDs. I think someone threw like 600 RMS instead of 950 ish to them, and they liked it pretty well.

I know nothing about the Polk Audios, so I can't really compare the two with that amount of power. If you are in fact upgrading sometime in the near future, I think you should just be patient, get the Qs with that amount of power for now, and then upgrade as soon as you can.

ok thanks. M car has been in shop for two weeks and it should be finished in the next two weeks and monday/tuesday the subbox gets started on. I am seriously building a competion qualitycar and I just want to make the right decisions the fist time. Thnks for the input.

700wrms each on the Polks. Thats the thing they are both so nice, but the Fi just kinda looks "mean" and I like to use equipment somewhat out of the norm as you can see by my sig. line.

I fully expected people to say the Q would smoke the Polks. Doesn't appear like that so far. **** they are both great subs. thanks for the input..keep it coming.

I think it's the amount of power that you're dealing with that's limiting people. Why get a good sub if you can't power it correctly. This is also assuming it's installed correctly too.

Zapco 9.0 + 2 12" Qs should sound quite nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Like stated above: 1000 rms total get a pair of sr's or one fi q and if you can get the zapco get a pair of Q's. 500 watts will do ok on a Q in a medium to optimal recommended box but, will not bring out it's full sonic potential.

Far from tryng to sway a vote our way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But we did have a competitor take 1st in Iasca in his class, and second overall points for finals using a pair of sealed Q12s with 250W each. At that point, it is no different using a 250W amp and only needing 100W to each sub for the desired output.... or using a 1000W amp to each sub and only using 100W for the same desired output. For him... 250W was enough to get 9.5 out of 10 points in the bass section.

My point is... not having RMS power isnt an issue for any sub if you simply dont need the output that pushing it to RMS "requires". True for any speaker...

What class was that sir........?
