Fi Q 12" with only 1,000 watts, ok?

Technically it could be 1,100 watts but I've heard the hifonics aren't easy to get the full power out of.

Specifically it's a BRX1100.D link to specs

It would be in a 2 cube 32hz box in the trunk

I have no problem getting the Fi SSD if I won't be able to get all that extra excursion and other good stuff out of the Q, but if I can I will

I listen to mostly hip hop type music and it's usually loud

There is nothing wrong with under powering a subwoofer. Just be sure to set gains correctly.

The q used to be rated at 1000 but since most people ran them on more fi bumped the rating so they could bump the ssd up to 1000w from their 500w position. The q motor never really changed
You learn something new everyday... I did not know of this. Interesting.
**** you winky!!

Deep down I was hoping people would say "no get the ssd" cause then I would save money

Looks like I'm dropping some coin, thanks a lot
Good luck with your project @lakaiguy; You know you would've saved a lot if you got it from me. Still brand new too. It's all good though.. I know you have your reasons.. Make sure you use thick gauge wires to get the most out of your amp. If you're gonna run 1 ohm then definitely have your electrical on check. (Good battery and maybe even H/O alternator)

For 1000 watts?

It is capable of playing hip hop at loud levels but that is not really the intention behind the Q design. It is geared more towards sound quality builds which most of the time is the exact opposite of hip hop at high output. I honestly think the ssd would be a better suit for what it seems you like music wise. The BL is probably better as well and is around the same price as the Q but looks like it is geared much towards ported only.

The Q likes lows and has very flat response in a proper box and generally they do very well in sealed applications, With hip hop music, you'd want booming loud and you'd want lows also, an FI BL would definitely be a better choice for your wants. Also with that amp choice if your getting it new for around 200$, you can get this for the same price but better quality Precision Power PPI BK1800.1D 1800W RMS Mono Class D Black Ice Car Amp (BK18001D) not to mention enough power for whichever sub you'd want.
