(BTW, the real name is Cannabis, common name is Ganja or Hemp. "Marijuana" was made up by the prohibitionists so Americans wouldn't understand they were banning industrial Hemp)

A group of US representatives plan to introduce legislation that will legalize marijuana and allow states to legislate its use, pro-marijuana groups said Wednesday.
The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or inter-state smuggling, and allow people to legally grow, use or sell marijuana in states where it is legal.

The bill, which is expected to be introduced on Thursday by Republican Representative Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Barney Frank, would be the first ever legislation designed to end the federal ban on marijuana.

it should be passed...this illegal crap is gay. Know what I did last weekend, got drunk and made like 25 bad decisions. I don't even like alcohol prefer weed where i can still think and act and drive like a normal person, i do stupid **** when drunk never done anything cept forget something when high.

Maybe. Once the case is made that this alone could balance the current federal budget problems without cutting into everyone's favorite pet programs I think it could gain support from even the most conservative quarters (right or left). The huge deficit could be an unlikely ally in ending prohibition.

Want pass to many bible thumpers and such.. Its a shame cause 10-20 people will die in this wrld today just for weed. Even more will be locked up for years upon years for a plant..Sad Sad I say Fuc em and do what u do. Whatever makes u happy and as long as u are not hurting anyone else then that in itself is real freedom.

I think there is more than just the use of marijuana for its THC, as a matter of fact i know so. If you havent seen a documentry i forget the name of it at the moment but hemp was out producing timber so the major timber companys ran a major smear campaign to cut out the competition. There are over 100s of uses for Hemp than just to get high, it can bring people jobs, From farming the hemp stalks for paper and ropes, plastics, and of course for some to use, recreationally or by habit. I believe this would be a good thing for our country but like one guy said above its not gonna get by the bible thumpers. Even though Genisis 129 states i give you all seed bearing plants and HERBS to use. Just my 2 Cents.

Meh not all "bible thumpers" think weed is bad, it's the old people from the Reagan Days when his wife started "just say no to drugs".. My uncle has bad headaches he wakes up with one and goes to sleep with one, he smokes and let my grandmother know about it she is a "bible thumper", she actually likes the idea of medical use..

Really the only reason the stuff is illegal is the industrial uses of the plant competing with the established industries (and of course the recreational uses competing with alcohol and pharmecutical companies). Big lobyists for "war on drugs" legislation and advertizing/propaganda are chemical companies (Dow, etc.), oil companies, beer/liquor companies, and the like.

I firmly believe the driving force behind alcohol prohibition was the oil companies. The first internal combustion engines were run off alcohol. Big monopolistic corporations can't really compete with something that any person or farmer could make themselves. OF course the sheeple won't really get behind that, but if your propaganda sais "it's for the children"....well folks will just line up behind and tyrranical police state nonsense.

IMO I wouldn't smoke that stuff if it were legal, but if you want to, I could care less, just don't operate heavy equipment or drive while you're doing it.

Marijuana is a mulity-billion dollar industry. They would legalize it if they aren't half-retarded. The gov't could create jobs i.e. distributers, planters, etc. The crime rate would go down, like WHY ISNT IT PASSED ALREADY hahah
