Federal Bill to Legalize Ganja! (Marijuana). End of Prohibition!!!

I think there is more than just the use of marijuana for its THC, as a matter of fact i know so. If you havent seen a documentry i forget the name of it at the moment but hemp was out producing timber so the major timber companys ran a major smear campaign to cut out the competition. There are over 100s of uses for Hemp than just to get high, it can bring people jobs, From farming the hemp stalks for paper and ropes, plastics, and of course for some to use, recreationally or by habit. I believe this would be a good thing for our country but like one guy said above its not gonna get by the bible thumpers. Even though Genisis 129 states i give you all seed bearing plants and HERBS to use. Just my 2 Cents.
Back in WWII, the govt was so desperate for war time supplies, that they allowed farmers in the midwest to produce hemp (strains of MJ that contained virtually no THC) for things like rope and fabrics. To this day, it still grows wild in many midwestern states, and is called 'ditch weed' because it can be seen growing in ditches all over the region.

wtf is this for real????? and Ron Paul shoulda won the election ppl are dipshits...obama? really? Still get fired from my job for smoking it though....
You bring up a legal catch-22 Ive felt was unfair for a long time now. Many states allow its use, legally, for medical reasons. You can have a doctor prescribe it to you to treat an illness, but your employer STILL has the right to fire you if you test positive for it (not just found to be stoned on the job, just that its been in your system within the past 30 days). It would be like going to the doctor, being prescribed an antibiotic for an infection, and then your boss testing you and firing you for having antibiotics in your body. Absolutely stupid, unfair, and only serves to line the pockets of insurance companies.

Employers usually dont care what their employees do on their free time, so long as it doesnt affect their job performance, and wouldnt ever test their employees for it, but the insurance companies force them to implement a policy that says if you are involved in an accident, they must test you for it. And if you test positive, the insurance company has the right to deny your insurance claim for that accident. Its the insurance companies back-door excuse to not cover many accidents that occur, whether marijuana was a contributing factor or not, AND it provides an incentive for many people to never claim accidents they otherwise would and should, to avoid being tested and fired. Its amazingly unfair to the average person, just to keep the insurance companies happy and profitable. Sad.

I think insurance is a monopoly.
Not really a monopoly, as that refers to one company dominating an entire market. But they are one of the few industries that gets to write the rules to ensure their profit margins. If insuring people with certain conditions will hurt their profits, they simply deny them coverage. Speaking VERY basically here, but basically that is true.

well yeah technical terms aside, they get their way, I consider that a monopoly. That and you're pretty much forced to have them....if you wanna drive anyway or for many other reasons.....I mean theres no alternative to insurance, theres different companies but they all f you over to the most of their ability.

i didnt read the thread but here is my argument on it. i hope they dont make it legal cause then small towns like where i live would crumble and fall. the economy here is based off the growing off weed. the growers buy parts for there generators here as well as other farm/agriculture stores in town. granted yes thats just a couple counties out of the country off hand that will be affected. i smoke daily and everything, could i lose my job for it? yes. will i? no. even if its legalized it will still be like alchohol so all the 17yr olds that are like yeah legalize it so i can smoke it aint gonna work that way,

Marijuana is a mulity-billion dollar industry. They would legalize it if they aren't half-retarded. The gov't could create jobs i.e. distributers, planters, etc. The crime rate would go down, like WHY ISNT IT PASSED ALREADY hahah
the ONLY reason it is a multi billion dollar industry is because it's illegal. do you think it would make as much if no one had to be scared to just simply grow it themselves?

surprised ron paul is leading this with the election coming up

stoners don't vote, lol
lol, they would if it was something they cared about...

Why? If it's legalized the demand will still be there and arguably increase. I would think your local economy would be booming. That product has to come from somewhere...

does everyone grow things in their own gardens? no. it would still be a multi-billion dollar industry. legalize it, tax it. end of story

and it is much much harder to grow GOOD weed than most people think.

uhh, how about California? I don't think the people there are scared to grow it and it's their primary cash crop...

I agree, to an extent. But, it would expand other business opportunities, like sales of fertilizers, lighting equipment, hydroponic kits, etc. And, growing it is a good amount of work (believe it or not), and lets face it most people, especially pot heads, are lazy. I dont usually get into the debates on what it would do for our economy, because I feel both sides use distorted figures and statistics to pitch their view. But Im confident the truth lies somewhere between the two extremes of it will bring us out of this depression, or it wont create any noticeable new jobs/growth at all.

I doubt this bill will pass. But its a step in a good direction that not many years ago I didnt think Id ever see in my lifetime.
