Remember CA had a bill to legalize pot. But it didn't get passed, which was weird. Same with Prop. 8.

Anyways, in this struggling economy people may be desperate enough to finally legalize weed. I hope it does pass and it opens up more jobs. I honestly would love a job working on a hemp farm even though I rarely smoke anymore. I'm just more concerned about making $$$.

I was somewhat surprised it didnt pass in Cali too. I was pretty confident it would. Pot is simply a part of the culture there.

Yeah I used to live in CA and I smoked quite often too. Seems strange that with as popular as pot is and the dominant left-wing politics there it didn't pass. I don't even think it was that close either. The Illuminati probably tampered with the results.

I think it would. It wouldn't be a saving grace to the unemployment problem but, if the government took over regulation you have gov't jobs there. Then, if private sector was in control of growing then you could potentially have small businesses and larger corporations set up farms where they need people to grow, harvest, cure, package, etc... It's been awhile since I concerned myself with this subject, so I may not be up to date with all the business/legal plans involved in legalization.

I agree, to an extent. But, it would expand other business opportunities, like sales of fertilizers, lighting equipment, hydroponic kits, etc. And, growing it is a good amount of work (believe it or not), and lets face it most people, especially pot heads, are lazy. I dont usually get into the debates on what it would do for our economy, because I feel both sides use distorted figures and statistics to pitch their view. But Im confident the truth lies somewhere between the two extremes of it will bring us out of this depression, or it wont create any noticeable new jobs/growth at all.
I doubt this bill will pass. But its a step in a good direction that not many years ago I didnt think Id ever see in my lifetime.

obviously there will be some money to be had, but no where near the revenue it brings in now.

Why? If it's legalized the demand will still be there and arguably increase. I would think your local economy would be booming. That product has to come from somewhere...

to produce strains of pot with high levels of THC is not as simple as, planting a plant and just watering it.

Why do you think the cannabis clubs in California make so much profit. On the streets you can get 1 gram for about 15 bucks sometimes even 20. Clubs sell it for a bit more, but they still have customers. They have quality stuff. And not only do they just sell trees to be smoked, but they have pizza, cheesecake, lotions, honey, brownies, rice crispy treats and the list goes on and on. They even have there own menu when you go inside.

Same reason I buy my fruit and vegetables at the grocery store. Sure I could grow them myself, but that takes work and it's just much more convenient to go buy pre-packaged product. Just because people can grow it doesn't mean they will, too **** lazy :/
