fatmat or edead 45?

When performance is a priority, Damplifier and Damplifier Pro are the best value in the sound deadening industry, bar none!!

Can care less and give 2 shits what you or anybody else think. Shit has worked for me just fine.

Caring less and not giving a shit doesn't take away from the fact that, somehow in your past, someone replaced your brain with mashed potatoes and gravy. So I guess I shouldn't even call you out anymore for your apparent lack of understanding on subject and your terrible advice, I should be more compassionate for your mental shortcomings. I sawwy you's special.

Two words: black foil. Get on it, yo.
And hook a brother up on that mass loaded clay you were talking about making before.
Black foil is in the works.. NExt batch should be black.

Bringing in about 20k sq feet or so.

So far the clay is turning out to be more difficult than I thought.

Good up until about 150 degrees.

Trying to increase the heat range is proving to be difficult.

Out of any mat I've used Second Skin is my favorite product //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif On a budget go with Raamat, IMO.
THISSS!!!!!!!

I have SS in my trunk but raamat would be the best "Budget" choice

Exactly!
Its called mass loading, not mass coverage
Kind of. It's not so much the mass, but the adhesion and visoelastic nature of the butylene composite. Asphat's viscoelasticity is very poor, so it really shouldn't't be consider a damping product, despite guys like bigbangmoron that insists on speaking as though they are comparable products.

Rudyboy has some pretty strong testing results that show this. Part of it is mass, part is the constraining layer, and part is the damp-ablity of the products damper: the adhesive..

I understand the more to it than just mass, you did do a much better job of describing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif, im just trying to get the point across that just because you can get 5 times the material it does not mean you will achieve better results.

Vid of proof...I will buy lots of Damplifier if you show proof of this
No video, but the 2:1 claim is a considerable understatement. You can't ever get to the point where some amount of asphalt equals the performance of some other amount of a butyl product with a foil layer that's >= 4 mil. You start to get close somewhere around 6:1 but by then the added mass has moved the panel's resonant frequency enough to make comparison difficult - but nowhere near enough to be out of the audible range.

Since no one will believe the results shown on any RTA graph posted by me or anyone else, here's a really simple way to settle this question for yourself. Get 2 identical pieces of sheet metal - 12"x12" works very well and 22 gauge is close enough to most vehicle sheet metal. onlinemetals.com sells them inexpensively or you can find them at Home Depot, etc or maybe in the corner of your basement or shop. To make a fair comparison you really want them to be as close to identical as possible.

Drill a small hole in the corner of each so you can hang them by strings. Apply a 6" square of your preferred asphalt product in the center of one and a 6" square of whichever butyl/foil product you like on the second. Hang them up and tap them in the center with a stick. You're going to be shocked. The butyl/foil blank will make a dull thud. The asphalt blank will sound almost exactly the same way it did with no "deadener" applied.

Start adding additional 6" squares of asphalt and tap away. All you have to do is count the number of squares you have to apply before you are satisfied.

there should be a sticky that says "never create a thread about ED because everyone hates it even though most never owned it and just hopped on bandwagon haters"

get tired of hearing the same shit from FoxPro and Rudy, even Ant. they will do and say anything to prove their point, even though they make themselves look like idiots.

honestly TS its up to you, i have a good small amount of fatmat and and a lot of edead in my hatch and it has done me good for the past 2 years. most will say the same that own edead.

Unfortunately, as long as there are those who refuse to acknowledge the basic physics involved in vibration damping, the idiots among us will continue to say that just because something looks like something else doesn't make it the same thing. A turd might look like chocolate to some, but that doesn't make it a tasty treat.

When you say that FatMat has "done you good", you mean that it has not fallen off, not that it has performed the task for which it is being sold. So yeah, we may end up looking like idiots, but somebody needs to explain to people why they shouldn't follow the truly idiotic advice being thrown around as if there was something other than ignorance and wishful thinking behind it. Continue convincing yourself that you didn't make a mistake if you like, but stop trying to convince others to follow your lead.

It's very simple: high quality products work so much better that they cost less to use and require less work. They also don't carry the risk of failure that your chosen materials do. What's your point again?
