Fatmat good?

once again if you had read the whole thread the stuff is the EXACT same price as fatmat and fatmat is 33% thicker.
I read most of the thread. Isn't fatmat asphalt based?

Lol! It's so funny the amount of nut-huggery going on. I have no affiliation with audio technix. lol I just saw the price and the description and know it's some of the cheapest butyl based deadener out there. I thought I'd chime in. Sorry I came into the thread with a different opinion....

That's great that you mention the 25% coverage idea. Buying a bunch of crappy deadener vs. A small amount of totl deadener will net you worse results. Pay $100 for 50cft of terrible deadener or pay $100 for 12.5cft of awesome deadener, and the better deadener will net you better results.[/b]Denim, are you affiliated with SDS? False.. I know a few guys with World records that will testify to this..

i dont care either way either. I have run several brands. but im no going to throw someone on to a worse brand where you get less product for the same price. just doesnt make sense to me.. and thats just my opinion. If you want cheap you might as well get some more coverage for your money. If your going to get the best then go get some second skin or something

oh
Well it will at least make your Peen larger.
well i have come to find theres a deifference between people who read stuff all over the forums and think they know everything and what goes on in the real world on real installs. I dont claim to know alot about either but i know people whoa re tops in the country at both.. and believe it or not that TL does not agree with alot of the stuff people think they know and post all over the web and have never built a system and tested the **** out of it thousands of different ways. I will put my money on the real life experiences then what people think they know from the internet

Thank you for the link.
Well I didn't know any of that but I have been skeptical of don ever since I was aware of him. Sound deadener showdown was started as an educational site. People felt like they were learning and getting a fair review of deadening products and began to trust the tests. Several months after the site became well known, don began selling product. One has to question the test results and his motivations and intentions at that time. Looking at the way he is aggressively attacking the owner of Audio Technix, I think it's patently obvious that don is disingenuous.

Just for clarification: If I came out of the blue and began to review amplifiers and inform about them etc, you might begin to trust what I'm saying. You might reference it in discussions. Then if I came out and began selling amplifiers, wouldn't you wonder if I had this plan the whole time??? and used my "unbiased" status to mislead you, only to lead you to MY product? You may not wonder that... but you should.

What if then, after I had been selling my product, I started attacking people who wanted to compete with my product?... all without a shred of evidence and unsubstantiated claims? It just seems REALLY coincidental.
That'd be 4 years. Pretty bad business plan. This is also from the guy posting that he's receiving complaints about my products and then listing products I don't sell.

Correction... anyone who could afford to, had the time to, and had the physical means to. aka almost nobody. Just to be fair.
Afford to, as in having access to an oven, a few 5 pound weights, a gallon of mineral spirits, stop watch and some pieces of steel - pretty much anyone who isn't homeless. As far as having the time, that wasn't really smart. Doing tests, answering thousands of e-mails, all for no compensation, just in an effort to get to the bottom of all of the confusion being propagated by people with an ax to grind. Physical means to?

So four years later I start a business and you think it was all some grand plan from the beginning? I can't even begin to fathom how that conclusion can be arrived at objectively. What's really going on here?

His tests were things like dropping a test piece of each mat into alcohol, hanging a weight from a piece, or heating it in an oven. The hardest part would have been collecting samples pieces of each mat type. Anyone here could have recreated those tests.

Afford to do these tests? Find the time to do them? Is there a reason you are trying to make the tests seem unachievable? I guess the only way you would be satisfied would be if recreating Don's tests was free, cost no time, and expended no energy on your part. Otherwise, its easier to just sit on your computer and claim his results are 'questionable'.

Right... listen guy saying open cell foam on accident doesn't discredit it no matter how bad you want it to.

Yeah let's just forget about the deadener.... lol

Wasn't smart? To do a fair test on each it had to have taken a lot of time right? You're right... you coming in here and talking like this WASN'T very smart.

What is really going on is I see through you. Umadbrah?

Nope, just know Don has great products, is very versed in the industry, and in a way has become the leading source for knowledge interms of testing and information. I have been to his office and seen countless parts and pieces that have been tested. He is doing some RTA supported testing at the moment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't think so... or someone would have. Just affording the mat itself is a huge problem.

You tried to make them seem so easy... and they are just not. Everyone knows this or they would just call around and get a bunch of free deadener. It's not that darn easy and you know it. Logic is not on your side.

I'm just showing you that what you said "anyone could do it" isn't true. Lol. Your memory must be HORRIBLE.

I sent Don one email, then a couple following those containing my address, and he sent me free deadener. Porblem?

I would buy his product just solely based on his Customer Service. I like to buy from those who represent themselves well. Even if the product is inferior or the price too high, I feel like it's going to a good cause lol

So you're saying that no one is going to offer samples? How much does a sample cost? If you really wanted to do the tests Don did, its not going to bankrupt you or even dent your piggy bank unless, like said earlier, you are a hobo.

Don sent me a free sample pack, paid shipping, and it included decent sized samples of ALL of his products. Standup guy if you ask me.
