Thank you for the link.

Well I didn't know any of that but I have been skeptical of don ever since I was aware of him. Sound deadener showdown was started as an educational site. People felt like they were learning and getting a fair review of deadening products and began to trust the tests. Several months after the site became well known, don began selling product. One has to question the test results and his motivations and intentions at that time. Looking at the way he is aggressively attacking the owner of Audio Technix, I think it's patently obvious that don is disingenuous.

Just for clarification: If I came out of the blue and began to review amplifiers and inform about them etc, you might begin to trust what I'm saying. You might reference it in discussions. Then if I came out and began selling amplifiers, wouldn't you wonder if I had this plan the whole time??? and used my "unbiased" status to mislead you, only to lead you to MY product? You may not wonder that... but you should.

What if then, after I had been selling my product, I started attacking people who wanted to compete with my product?... all without a shred of evidence and unsubstantiated claims? It just seems REALLY coincidental.

I think that that approach is a perfectly good marketing strategy. He is obviously in it for the money, so more power to him. He saw that as a good way to enter the market and make his product known, so he took advantage of it.

However, the "aggressively attacking AudioTechnix" sounds bad. Elaborate?

I don't disagree that it is a successful strategy after studying the car audio market. It's full of people who enjoy being ignorant, and who just follow the pack. So, you become the pied piper, and then lead them straight into your pocketbook. It obviously works, it's just less than honest.... and I don't think it leaves him with any credibility.

The thread I was linked to shows how he is aggressively attacking audio technix. He bashed cthedinger for talking up a product that "did not exist" and then based all of his claims on posts that admittedly did not exist. It's hypocrisy at best.

If that's all you got from the thread then you must have a grudge against Don or something.

The root of all of this is the thread on another forum that I mentioned earlier. I would post a link to it, but cthedinger deleted all of his posts from it. It's fine for him to act like he has been victimized by me here, but I only became aware of the other thread because members there were outraged by the false allegation cthedinger made against me and my products and asked me to join and respond. It doesn't seem reasonable to attack and expect there to be no consequences. Unfortunately, since cthedinger chose to obliterate his contribution to that thread, the evidence is gone.
It's also disingenuous to cry foul after stating that he wouldn't trust RAAMmat BXT II in his car when what he showed as his reason is pretty obviously a physically damaged sample. He never mentioned this damage in his review video leaving us to imagine where and how the damage occurred. At the same time, we're being asked to trust the superior quality of a product that's different than the prototype, doesn't seem to exist and apparently hasn't been seen by anybody, including cthedinger. Very strange development cycle, IMO.

I'd suggest sending out samples of a shipping product. I know I'd be interested in seeing it. Oddly enough, I'd give an honest opinion. There are posts all over the place where I've commented favorably on competing products. Dynamat, Cascade and Second Skin all sell very good products. Cthedinger may too, but it's obviously premature for anybody to be claiming anything, one way or the other about his products. At this point all we have to evaluate are his antic
I'd be pissed if I was Don.

EDIT- Dude, You must have never done business with Don or even just asked him questions. He doesn't recommend his stuff over anyone else's. He recommends techniques to use to lower cost and raise performance in dampening.

Thank you for the link.

Every test performed in the SDS was easily verifiable by anyone who wanted to.
