false floor owners/builders enter please

im thinking about doing a false floor installation but am confused on how to go about it. do you guys set the sub box on top of the false floor or do you build the false floor around the box so that you can actually utilize full height of the trunk? thanks

yours is kind of different...of course it would be built to have the subs sit in top. im talking about a trunk build with MDF enclosure

I built mine seperate from the false floor.

how many inches of usable box height did that take from you?

1.25 (.5 for the floor and .75 for the box)

im talking about flush mounting amps into the floor, that would mean that the floor would have to be 3-4 inches above stock floor, thus taking away ALOT of usuable trunk height..

thing is, i cant justify spending that kinda time/money on something that is wrecked and have no intention on fixing lol. just looking at others installs on here makes me jealous and wish i could have one lol

i have some old pics in my gallery ...i used the spare tire well as part of the box volume so my box was 1/2 above and 1/2 below the false floor. but my false floor was made to make the base of my box....if you look at the pics you'll understand it better.

I would choose going around the box so you can utilize the height and get more out of your trunk.
