Factory subwoofer in a Honda Element

I have 2006 Honda Element and i have installed a aftermarked radio in it but the factory subwoofer is no longer hooked up. i was wondering if anyone here knows any tricks to retaining it?

I remember another installer telling me he spliced in a set of male rca's to the factory sub wiring and then plugged'em into the deck which worked, however the output was noticeably less.

hmm. i already did a few things liek that, i tied it in with the front speakers and you could barely hear it
