NO.. I never get error message on the display. I use quality cdr's (maxell) and burn them at 16x. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifI also read that the older 1995-1999 Alpines cd players dont read cdr's very well though.
btw, the video I posted is playing cdr. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Regardless of what a burned disc does to your deck you are NOT going to know the difference in life span. If it goes out less than a year from now you still couldn't really attribute it to CDRs. Weird thing about lasers is that you NEVER know when they're all the sudden not be able to track. It's just the way it is. Especially with a deck that old.Very good Rich B. Thanks.. Wouldnt it be the same for an original disc too ?
I have to respectfully call bullshit on this. Everyone knows that using your PS2 for a DVD player AND gaming console would shorten the life of your PS2. But to say it was from BURNED DVDs is ridiculous. It sounds to me he should have bought a dedicated DVD player and that he had some bad luck with head units.I had this reply from another forum:
yes. it is true.burnt cd's read harder.their for burning out the EYE faster.its how it reads the stream lines.
i do allot of DVD burning and its cost me a ps2.and a few head units over the years.
Now this, I totally agree with. Why would anyone burn something faster and sacrifice quality? I don't. I burn as slow as I can.PS.buring a cd/dvd at full speed will result in glitches and jumpy play back.this is easily noticed with video burning. a 16x burnable is best to be burned at 8x to 12x.
Interesting. I have the Denon dual well Cd player/recorder and it burns at 1x or 2x. However, it won't recognizie the newer CDR media as recordable discs. That is except for Mobile Fidelity CDRs which are 2-12x media.heres a duscussion I found on the subject.

worst problem now is that most head units continue to play the cd even if your listening to the radio.DONT keep cd/dvd's in the player at all times.

You may want to learn how to properly use apostrophes.... really...?REALLY?
I'm not going to take anything anyone says who can't use "they're, there, their" properly. Burnt CDs do make the laser re-track more... but that's about it. It's not going to damage the laser noticeably... If anything, it damages the motor more.
RSDs makes it look like it's part of the name, hence I use the apostrophe to separate the model name from the plural. You may want to learn how to properly use apostrophes.
