when im ready to buy again, ill be sure to check this site out... i did not realize there was better sh*t out there. cause im completely amazed by the w7, i cant imagine what better sounds/feels like.
i got the 13 from a place off northwest highway in palatine... i think their out of business now tho.

yea.. Autosound... all those guys TRY to do is sell products... they don't give 2 shlits if they ripped you off or not. That is why they are closed. They didnt do any business. Their installer now works at ABT in Glenview...and before that I think he was with Excel Audio, but they also closed I believe, unless they re-located

Where is your pizzeria... i live in A.H. you should hear my 18" Q... that will open your eyes towards other products, for you probably only know the mainstream audio brands... there are TONNNS of other private company's out there.

The FI Q is NOT a better woofer than the w7 in any way.. Just because its mainstream and people hate JL does NOT mean its not a quality product.
Honestly, the FI Q is garbage.

I bet a 15" Q would out perform a 13W7.... not really a good comparison, but im sure you would say opposite

JL makes good quality products, but they ARE overpriced.

The reason you think the subs from on here are crappily made is probably because most of them are hand assembled by the small companies selling them.

You probably saw a bit of CA around the dustcap and assumed its crappy. IMO, I dont want you to bash JL... but there are better woofers available. Not only that but there are woofers similar in output for much cheaper.

We know it doesnt cost 800 or 900 dollars to make the w7. It cost much less than that and essentially you are caughing up an extra paycheck or two to have people see JL on your gear. And why when theres other stuff available. thats why people on here dont like it. People on this site arent all rich, and still value performance and quality. Plus in the car audio industry, and especially with the peopel on this site.... theres a huge uneasiness of lying about product, unwarranted markups, pushy reps, protected zones ,middle-men/area-reps, bad customer-service etc. So most car-audio people on here are naturally not going to like the fact that JL has inflated prices.

I dont like paying for a name. I will pay for quality though. If JL was cheaper, Im sure I would consider looking at it.

exactly, i would LOVE to give a couple W6's a shot, but for the money i'll take a couple Se's or an icon instead

They are awesome! I got a a 12W6V2 in a sealed box, and a 500/1 from some dumbass on Craigslist for $300. Everything was in excellent condition too... so I sold the box and amp and got $275 for those, so the 12W6V2 cost me $25... I then proceeded to get another one from someone on here, now I have a pair of them that cost me about $230 out the door. The sound awesome, and they pound hard off my NINe.1. I've mostly owned JL stuff since that was the best stuff the local shops carried, but I try to always get good deals on my stuff, since I hate paying retail.

JL does make excellent quality stuff, but it is overpriced... however it can be had for less if you know what to look for, and have some patience.

yeah my boss at my old job (motorcycle dealer/custom chopper shop) had an srt8 jeep with 4 w6 10's and 2 jl 1000 amps and while he paid some rediculously stupid amount of money for it, it was loud enough to be heard before you could see him and had incredible sound quality. but he also spent something like 5k on it for the subs amps, 2 sets of components a 450/4 headunit and dynamat the whole vehicle custom box etc. if it was like a 2k system it would have been impressive, but for 5k i wasn't impressed lol

i bought a 13.5 w7 in a power wedge box,and a jl 1000/1 v2 for under 8,spent 40 buckks in gas,and drove to munster IN from Madison Wi to get it.

thats a good deal. not 7 bills for a w7. wouldnt pay that new.

I bought two 10w6v2's in the prowedge box at my dealer for $429 2 year warrently. I seriouly would like to see one of the chinessee basket, pulp paper cone FI,DD,RE crap SPL subs touch it in SQL. They just sound like air moving. Also I have heard of 12W7 HO box's hitting 145db in small cars. The HO boxes hit amazingly hard with no distortion.

I have heard a 13w7 on a 1000/1 and I have also heard a 12" Fi Q on a MTX 7801 at 1 ohm and a 15" Re destroyer on a 7801. Q sounded just as nice and Destoryer was still up there.. Also heard 2 8w7's on 2 500/1's and one DD1508 on an orion CS500.5, JL was cleaner but the DD gave it a good run for its money at half the cost

i like JL Audio ...everything they have produced is a good product but i do have to agree that they are a but overpriced.....i agree with person above DD is also a great company and have good prices.......
