i was driving to hazelton yesterday and my left cmx kick cut out. i thought i had somehow nuked the driver but then a couple minutes later my right cut out too. i check my amp and the 2 20amp fuses on my xtr 500.4 were blown. my power and ground going into the amp were freyed and orion has the shittiest design for there power/ground inputs so it was no suprise. i just got some fuses and redid the power and ground safely, but i keep popping the **** fuses! and i cant figure out why. im positive my power and ground arent touching at the amp. my inline fuse isnt blowing either. unfortunatly my DMM is broken and i got work soon so i have no time to get a new one. anyone have ideas? can you tell if theres a short in a wire with a DMM? could it be the amp?

You could have dead shorted the amp if you blew a driver...check the drivers on another amp? If they arn't blown then check the amp...did you smell or see any smoke from anywhere?

****, i better not have blow a driver. i did smell a little something before it happened but i thought it was the old truck in front of me. didnt smell like fried sub coils so i assumed it wasnt that cause i figured all coils would smell the same...

didnt see any smoke either. im am going to be furious if my brand new kicks are ****ed. i have nothing else to test them on though.

would a 9v battery work to just see if they move? IDK if thats an appropriate testing method for what you are trying to do but if you hit the leads to the battery it should make it move outwards...

i have done that with subs before. but should i do it with the xover? or do each tweet and woofer seperatly?

Man I had the same problem, as soon as i touch the power wire to the amp, with the ground already connected, I get an instant pop. But i ended up puttin the ground wire in the power term, and the power in the ground term, durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. But fixed it and it worked. And I also had a prob with a audio cough shitty cough cough bahn amp. I had 2 10s that wanted more power than it could put out, but I had gains all the way up, and music blastin, The fuse would sometimes needed to be jiggled to make it work, then I was drivin, the fuse poped, but I wiggled it and it still worked even though the fuse was popped, then I was drivin and I smell really bad burnt plastic, and the fuse melted itself to the amp and It yet still worked with being wiggled at times. Maybe your just puttin alota stress on your amp, put the gains down a lil, try 30 amp fuses, 20s blow easily. And check to see if your power is in the right place, and your ground is too, dont make the same mistake that I did
