extra steps to prevent theft

Yeah, Keep a low profile. I can't remember how many posts I have seen from people who had their stuff stolen "just 2 days after I put it in"

Well, the thieves either saw you put it in, you told some "friends," and they stole it, or you bump your system all over the place, especially where you live.

NO huge steal me stickers.

Be careful who you show off your system to. If you don't know the person, think twice about showing them what you have.

I have a nice system in my car(IMO), and my car looks stock. There is one very small "sirius" sticker on the back window, down at the bottom, and that is it. I just roll my eyes when I see vehicles around with these huge "rockford fosgate" or pioneer stickers running the length of their windshield....just too risky.

What if a thief got frustrated because he couldn't get ur stuff out the trunk so just decides to jack the whole car instead?
Well thats true also. But i guess i was referring to the average dumb kid. Because thats who usually try to break in peoples cars, so im not expecting them to carry all kinds of equipment to take stuff out. Or even jack a car. And my plan is just to make things difficult. Because if they really want it, they will find a way to get it. Ex. steal ya whole car.

Yeh I see, was just over reacting cus nothing would piss me off more than someone stealing my system.

Ive glued the lock on my boot so it can only b opend from the leaver inside (This also stopped ratling) and I just cover up my 6x9's with a blanket if I have to leave my car somewhere. wanna get myself a realy loud alarm tho or even just some alarm stickers for the windows that has to be the best deterant.

Oh here's another thing most people don't think about. If you have a trunk release in the cab of your car, most thieves will just have to bust your window and pop the trunk in order to steal your shit. Most amateurs will have a hard time opening the trunk otherwise. So if you have a trunk release, disable it (most cars have a switch for this - mine's in the trunk) and if your seats fold down, make sure they're always locked.

Also, I've read of people mounting their box to the car on the inside of the box for extra difficulty. If you did that and mounted your sub with rare screws you'd be much better off (If i were going to steal a sub I wouldn't take the box I'd just show up with a cordless drill). That way they can't get the sub out nor the box. Basic rule of thumb is, if you were a thief and you were going to take it, what would you do? Then prevent it. You of all people should know all the security weaknesses of your own system.

i got an alarm where the car won't start when it's going off and really came in handy once when i was visiting friend in detroit and some idiot busted my window and tried to take the car and this was before i had a big system in my car. when i went to the front door he finally ran away but he did look like a 16 year old and the detroit police didn't give a shit because they ****, so what i did was buy a 1984 blazer with a bunch of rust and when i go to places in rough neighborhoods or something i take that and i don't have to worry about my shit getting ripped off, and when i want to listen to my system i just ride around in a whole other area, and when i'm home i park it in the garage.

piece of shit thieves. It's a good thing I live in a really nice neighborhood in a nice state without too much of that stuff goin on. although my friend's car was busted into and his system was stolen. his car was parked in the garage think about that one. you'd think it was safe in your garage.

i'll just build a look out tower over my house and get a sniper rifle and pick off whoever goes near my shit. :readytogo

You can screw the stuff down and all this and that but if I broke in your car and couldnt get your stuff out I would smash the hell out of it..
Well then put in a secure grill on your subs so it'd be hard to smash them and encase your amps as well. The only easy loss should be your head unit because it's hard to enclose. I've made everything in my car look stock anyway so it'd be unappealing to potential thieves. I'd rather have smashed equipment than stolen equipment - at least then I know some f*cker isn't going to be making a profit off my hard work and money.

just reading threw the threads, I had a friend who got his car broken into, and had everything customly installed, so it was amazingling hard to get everything out, fiberglass/the amps were in a amprack mounted in the sparetire with glass over it and carpet, everything was beutiful, the theif couldnt get the w7's beeecause of the install or the 1000/1 amps, so instead, he took his knife and stabbed the **** out of the subs, both subs were gone, and broke the glass to amp racks, and somehow burnt the **** out the amps, they were all black on the sheetmetal top, amps would no longer power up...

lucky he had insurance on it, he got a pretty good amount back, but still didnt get it all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

**** theives.

I dont get it. People will go through some $*!t just to get your stuff. I mean, im sure if they actually worked hard and put together their own system, they will enjoy it 10x more. And we people have to always be alert and going though extra measures to protect our hardwork and investment.

Another tip though. Kinda hard to explain, but our driveway and garage is on the side of the house. We own 5 different cars. My parents park 2 of the cars in the garage. 1 car is over my grandaddy house, and me and my pops car is outside. Anways, i have a honda accord. He has a 2004 Chevy Avalanche (spelling?) His truck is WAY bigger than my car. So i park closer to the garage than him, because if he parked closer, then i couldnt see my car because his truck is so big. And by me parking near the garage, if i wanted to look through the garage and check on it, i can see my car and his big truck on the other side.

Oh and also, we have a huge wood fence that goes around our back yard. So when i back my car in the garage, i back it close to the fence as possible, so it was be even more difficult for them to pull my box out of my trunk.

another break in story....

About a year ago, my cousin who owned a dodge stratus and bought it from one of those local Mom and Pop car dealer ships got his stuff stolen. But its F**ked up how it happened. Well, he didnt have insurance so they set up something where he paid his insurance when he paid his car note. And he installed two roof mounted tv's, had a nice panasonic cd player, had 2 cerwin vega's in the trunk. with playstation 2 and all that. Well, he gave one of his so called girlfriends his car payment because he was at work and wanted to pay it on time. So she took the money, never took it to the dealership and paid them. So my cousin went to the car place just to make sure it got paid, and he was like, no one paid your payment sir. He kept calling her and she never picked up. So basically the girl screwed him out of his money. Secondly, the guy was like, sir give me your keys. My cousin got defensive and was like, im not going to give you my F'n keys. And he was like ,well my records show you have no insurance. And he was like, well i have been paying yall extra for insurance coverage for a while. And thats just the thing, he have been paying them, but he didnt sign no paper where its saying he is paying on insurance. So he had no proof what so ever and all his payments was cash. So he got screwed by them right there. And they told him since he missed his payment, he had to show up with (x) amount of dollars to get his car back. Until then it will be placed in the garage type thing. Well, needless to say he is pissed off. But hustled his *** off so he could get his car back. The day he got enough money and paid them the (x) amount of dollars. He went to go unlock his car. ALL HIS SH*T IS GONE. Tv's, cd player, playstation 2, vegas, amp, everything. And to make it so bad, his alarm was cut so it didnt go off. Everything was nicely taken out of his car. No tears, no rips, took wiring and all. So of course he thinks it was the Mom and Pop place because his car was suppose to be put up and secured but it wasnt. They just had it out in public view, but there was no way for him to prove they did it. So he just had it bad.

Dang this alot of mess i typed. Oh well, just brought back memories and thought i'd share

First of all, you guys all say Bump Responsible what about when your at competition, all those bystanders looking at you s**t!!possibly planning to steal it!!If some thief really wants your system, he will just tow your whole car. One of my friend had about 10K dropped in his system and the person who survaled his lot at night came up an had it towed. So there is really nothing to do to stop a determined thief. Right now the best measurment of security has be to use 2 1/2" bolts and bolt the box from the inside threw the floor board to the car with castle nots and cotter pins, most people dont carry a socket with them when trying to steel your system let alone a pair of dikes and an extra person!! Also bolt your amps to the floor using Aircraft bolts/nuts!! I have my whole system insured by my insurance company so if some dumb *** steals my stuff or ruins it I can get at least 85% of MSRP. ALso get an American Bulldog, people will s**t themselve when they see a monster starring at them!!

I think i have a solution to the theft that happens at night when you are sleepin at your own house. I have a 2 year old doberman pinscher that is a full grown male and weighs in around 125 pounds. Good dog but can scare the piss out of you when he gets mad. My idea is to stick him in my car at night when im sleeping so if someone was to try to break in my car and steal my shit they would open the car to a doberman getting ready to rip his f@#%in head off. My alarm would be the least of the guys problems.

Thats basically what i have been saying to begin with. There is no sure way to stop a theif. If they want it, and have the brains to think of a way to get it, then you are pretty much out of luck. But my point in making this thread was to get people to come up with difficult ways to try and prevent theft
