extra steps to prevent theft

Ok i know if a thef really really wants something, there is very little u can do to prevent them from taking it. But lately in my neighborhood there has been alot of cars being broke into. Police was notified and they are suppose to randomly patrol our neighborhood, but thats not enough for me. Im suppose to be gettin a security system put in hopefully really soon. But i still want to be even more cautions. I bump respectful and responsible and that sort of stuff. But here is one of my ideas.

Go to lowes and purchase a nice size thickness of wood. Have it cut to fit my trunk. So when i sit my box in my trunk, i can mount it down to that wood with some L shaped brackets. And use different size and types of screws when attaching everything. That way, i can mount down my amp good too and if they want it, they will have to go through the alarm and spend alot of time trying to get everything loose. does that sound like a good plan? I also got my windows tinted. and i dont leave stuff in view for other people to see. Any tips would be helpful

Best thing you can do is bump responsibly but im pretty sure everyone does, some other methods are...

1. Park somewhere visible to general public so theifs are discoraged to enter your vechical.

2. Park next to a really flashy car (i.e. Esclade sittin on 24's) so the attention will be attracted to them. [better them than you]

3. Remove faceplate.

4. Remember to roll your windows up and lock your doors.

5. When going in and out of your trunk make sure no ones watching or make it quick.

6. NO DECALS! no one likes a show off anyways

Something you can do to make it harder for them to steel your amps is after its installed fill the screw head in with a metal epoxy. This is a pretty permanent procedure so if you ever want to remove it you'll have to drill out the screw head. Or you can get some security screws, they look like an allen head, but with a nob in the middle so the average thief can't remove em. :up2someth

Yea, im going to use allen. Should i use just allen, or keep different types. Cuz right now i have philips, allen, and flat head screws mounting down my 6x9s. Im going to try and go to lowes tomorrow so i can mount my subwoofer box down and buy all the screws i need

Anymore ideas? Absolutly everything is welcome

Buy some security screws. They can be installed but can't be taken out. You put them on with a flathead but if you try to remove turning to the left is beveled so the screwdriver won't bite on anything. They have them at a lot of places.

All good ideas mentioned here.....but the key is to prevent anyone from knowing you have a sytem. If a thief knows you have one, and he can get into your trunk, the chances of your stuff not being stolen are slim to none.

that's a good plan, but what if they bring along a router or something to that effect? don't even have to worry about the screws, just cut the wood and take the screws out once he gets back to his house. that happened to my friend. a guy broke in with a routerish tool and tore apart the dash to get the h/u, didn't even try to unscrew it. i guess if you have a trunk and a small enough box, you could put up a fake wall in the trunk so if you open it you can't see the box at all and it gives the illusion of the back of the seats, although it will probably change the sound a little and then you can't show off to all your friends, but oh well, you can let them feel it instead of seeing it. just a thought

Lets recap shall we...

1) Bump Responsible

2) Dark Tint

3) Loud Alarm

4) Everything Bolted Down w/Security Screws

5) Park in Public view

6) Don't open your trunk in plain view

7) Carry a .44 Magnum. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif:readytogo

Thanks, but i know if a theif really wants something they have ways to get it. But im guessing its mostly young and dumb kids around here thats been breaking into cars. So they are probably week and probably cant pick up my box to begin with. And i'm just trying to add to the difficulty.

Oh Yea!! If you have an alarm add maybe an extra siren/horn in the trunk so when they are trying to work in the trunk a siren will be wailing his ears and making him deaf in the process!

Ever see the alarm system with the flames out the side?
