External sound cards and computer speakers...

Does anyone here know anything about a speaker system for your computer? I have a laptop computer and i want a 5.1 dolby surround system...anyone have any suggestions on speakers/external soundcards for my laptop? Let me know and thanks-

You can always get a sound blaster extigy. Btw, what kind of dolby surround setup are you looking at getting?

Hey guys sorry i ahve been out of town...to answer all of your questions...i am looking for a 5.1 surround system..I really do not know a lot about computers but what is the difference between the external Sounblaster and that one that plugs into my little slot that Defiler mentioned...also, anyone know anything about speakers? Thanks-

I use an Audigy 2 card in my PC and I love the sound. If there are better sounding sound cards out there please list a few. I'm an "audio first" guy and would like to keep my options open.

If you are running analog out then most sound cards with the VIA Vinyl chipset will put Creative to shame. I would suggest the Audiotrak Pridigy 7.1LT. The DACs are far better than Creative.

I just want to state that my GAMING box at home has a Creative Audigy 2 ZS. For gaming there is nothing better at the moment but music is another ball game.
