First, I have a 98 Explorer. I just brought two sets to RF Power 6.5" components. I started looking around in my truck for places to place them and none. I don't want them in the doors. I want to squeeze every bite of sound outta them that I can. I was gonna try to put the tweeters in the pillars, but they're not wide enough and theres not point in randomly placing them on the door. I want good placement really. I may have to look at fiberglassing, but there still is very little space to work with. If anybody has pics of components in an Explorer, post them up. I kinda thinking about a Meade style pillar setup in the front. Still thinking about the back.

Ive seen an explorer with tweets in the pillar. It sounds like you just want you shit to be loud right? If you can't find room and don't want to build pods I would say just mounts 4 tweeters around the back and that shit will be unbearable. This of course would be considered by many to be ghetto and have 0 sound quality whatsoever. Its really just a matter of what is your goal/purpose of you system.

I'm gonna look into kicks first. I have no prob with doing pods in the pillars other than the lack of skills. I'm sure I can find someone to help thou. The rear set are my real concern thou. I want the rear tweeters to fire behind the passengers to give that surrounded affect. One of my friends built separate boxes to put his components in and placed them on his sub box to get rear fill. I want mine to be nicely tucked away thou. Guess thats not gonna happen.

yeah, i get pretty decent imaging, considering, with the stock door locations, deadened all to hell and the tweets high above the power mirror controls on the doors, about an inch from the dash.

I think I have a game plan. I guess I'm gonna run the 6.5"s in the door. I know I gonna need massive deadening. With the tweeters, I found an area at the top of the pillar that is deep enough for me to mount the tweeters in on both side. They will be point down at the front two at an angle, how I wanted it. Only problem is, there is no room for error. I have to cut it right the first time or prepare to buy new pillars. With the rear tweets, I'm gonna try to run them at the top of the panel if I can find the space. I'll look more into it tomorrow.
