Everything cuts out at high volume (Rear Speakers Culprit?)

So I finally got all my gear set up, and it sounds great! But I have an issue that's really grindin' my gears. I popped in my favorite track and cranked it up, after about 10 seconds everything cuts off, my front components, my sub, and stock rears running off the head-unit (components are run off a 4-channel Alpine). All I get until I turn it down is a slight buzzing coming from the rear speakers. Now if I turn the fade all the way to the front, I can crank the jams all day long without a hitch. It's a 98 Explorer so the rears are a pain in the *** and a half to get to, so I was hoping to get some feedback on what it could be.

I was thinking maybe either I accidently hooked up the rear speakers in reverse polarity, or one or both of them are starting to blow? They sound fine at low-mid volume. I have like zero slack on my headunit connections so I'm hoping it's a direct issue and not a process of elimination type issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Gains on the Alpine have been the same for about 6-months when it was in my previous ride. They were set by some dude from CarTunes, from what I can tell it's set to about 50%. Yes everything cuts out, Subwoofer, Components, and stocks. That's why I'm thinking blown stock speakers or something along those lines as it seems like the head unit is going into some type of protect mode since everything cuts out, not just one of the amps.

Pix of install?

start at the deck, check the speakers & all that

look for a short..

if it cuts out at the same vol. Id say the speaker shorting..

or a bad ground on the deck cant pull the curant at that vol.

At the device that seems to be having the issue is the most accurate place, so your HU. The fact that everything shuts off leads me to believe it is your HU. When I had a voltage issue only the power hungry Memphis would shut off while the Eclipse would keep running.

As a test I would disconnect the rear speakers at the HU and see if it still cuts off. Maybe they are overheating your HU or shorting and causing it to cut off.

what did you find out ? i have the same deck and amp as you. when the alpine amp shuts off the eclipse sub amp and the orion tweeters amp keep going. when i turn down the volume the amp turns back on.

Sounds like either the amp is wired at a lower ohm load than it supports or you're having a voltage issue. If you have a DMM select the ohm option and touch one of the speaker wire + and - at the amp to see what ohm it's getting. Then verify your amp can handle that ohm.
