Everyones Input Wanted!!

A successful shop will depend on many other factors. Brands that I would consider carrying would be..

High End Customers:

Zapco 1st choice

Brax 1st choice

Helix

Genesis

Sinfoni

Focal 1st choice on speakers

SEAS

Morel (Israel)

Rainbow Audio 1st choice on speakers

JL Audio W7's 1st choice on subwoofers

Middle of the road:

Diamond Audio

Tru Technology

Adire

RE Audio

Arc Audio

Alumapro

JL Audio

Alpine

That would be it!!

Pick one accesory line (Stinger has a great program, very appealing to me anyway), one japanese full line (Kenwood, Alpine, Clarion), one amp pull brand (pulls people in the store, Rockford Fosgate, MTX, Orion, etc.) and a line you make money on (Memphis, Concept, Crossfire, etc.).

If all you pick is lines nobody has heard about, you are going to be in deep trouble getting people in the store. Ask yourself if you asked your dad if he has heard of Kenwood or Pioneer, he probably has. Heck, he might think Eclipse makes tasty chewing gum. RE will draw a blank (not picking on them, just keep that in mind).

For the brands you are pushing, you need a demo vehicle to pull it off.

Depending where in NJ he is, hell have a bit of trouble getting half of those.

Not to mention you put Zapco first for " High end" and Arc "middle of the road" ??

Zapco loyalist through and through!! For pure power and SQ its Zapco for me!

Being NJ it should be real easy! Especially since most those items port there! Might want to try to hook up with some NY boys that carry mentioned brands..

6spdcoupe,

I see by your sig you run or ran the Rainbow Plats and Vandium line. How did you like them and compared to other high end how would you rate them?

It wont be easy at all, and I will make sure of it if hes anywhere near me.

Your going to put the squeeze on him? LOL..... What brands do you carry? I imagine he would have to have some serious credentials to carry half I listed.

Some of you guys would fail quickly at running a shop...you can't just grab the biggest brands that we throw on the internet and expect them to sell in a shop.

I'm sure 6spdcoupe has had people come into his shop, see and Arc sub/amp, and tell him that they ****, and Kicker L7/JL w7/etc. is much better and will destroy anything he has.

You have to realize that shops, and internet forums, are NOTHING alike.

The Vandiums I was pleased with, but then when I went 3 way I switched over to the Dyn system 360. Which is still currently in my car awaiting the install of my Platinums. I like Manny (3.5max) blow my load a bit early at times and throw it into my sig prior to installing the stuff. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Its hard to rate them on a scale, especially with the Dyns as theyre extremely laid back and love gobs of power. Where as others (Profi Vs) are bit more "in your face". Nothing Ive used to date has dissapointed me or my customers. The primary reason for my change to the Platinums is due to the fact that the Dyns are simply not affordable to the majority of my customers. Granted the Platinums arent either, but I still offer them something in the Rainbow line whether it be SLCs,Germaniums,Profis, etc.

x2 thanks for making that comment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif A+ for you...

its not easy to get BIG name brands in a small pa and ma shop. you for SURE will get ALPHAsonik, JENSEN, Planet Audio, BOSS. why cause distributors ALL HAVE THEM easy to get CHEAP and people are happy with them.

It wouldnt be anything personal of course, but if someone is trying to offer restricted products that I carry and theyre in my backyard, yes unfortunately I would raise a stink. Arc has been Extremely great with my protection rights, as theyve called me just about everytime they had a NJ/NY dealer trying to sign on with them. In return Ive been honest...if the location is distanced enough from me, I tell them more power to that dealer. If theyre close I tell em that as well. Ive even offered myself to answer any questions they might have being new to the product, provided of course, theyre not stepping on my toes.

I carry most of the typical mainstream...Pioneer,Clarion,Kicker,etc But primarily focus on most of the upper tier products...Dynaudio,DLS,Arc,Rainbow,Alumapro,Diamond,Eclipse. Ive recently added Genesis,Brax/Helix and Morel Isreal, but havent even made an initial order yet so I wouldnt expect much support from them yet.

Absolutely correct. Ive had tons of comments made to the extent of pure frustration. Ive even had a customer say " I wont buy that Rainbow crap, it just sounds Gay"

When I first joined up with Arc and Rainbow late '03 There was no one around that even heard of it, a few months later it was primarily all that I did to later land me in a "One of the larger dealers for the North east" spot. When Rainbow split and went to Alumapro for distribution I lost alot of sales due to lack of inventory on their part. I now order direct from Germany.

I like dealing directly with manufacturers and not a middleman through distribution. Chad/Arc,Emilios/Dynaudio,Pinny/DLS,etc all have been more than pleasurable to deal with and will bend over backwards to help their dealers. Hence the reason I stay loyal to them. Superb customer service like some of them offer is few and far between to find nowadays where it seems as if the all mighty dollar rules everything.
