the cone i used is the heavy *** duty press paper. its about 230 grams. the coil i use is on a 7" former thats SUPER thick. the coil is a very long 4 layer 3.35"OD coil over 80mm long. its 130 grams. What are you doing to get better efficiency than 86? Tighter coil options? Wish we lived in a world that subwoofers were just twice as efficient as they are and thats not asking much. Would love to do 60s off 2k.
so right off the bat i'm going to use a slightly thinner cone and use a carbon fiber dustcap to strengthen it. going to save at least 30 grams..
if i get a chance i'm going to do my own carbon cones but not likely. Im also going to use a short larger winding 8 layer coil so mms will be similar but B/L will be alot higher as much as 25% more motor strength depending on the windings used. so in short this brings QES down and vas goes up. that leads directly to better sensitivity plus i can use slightly softer spiders to get the same dampening also resulting in greater sensitivity a MUCH in low power installs.
something i've found that not many people know is the softer spiders do better in stock and street installs that peak lower(below 50hz) while the stiffer spiders do better in walls and installs that peak at 50+
