ever heard of plutonium subs?

Don't start the argumentative stuff again, lets remember who replied to whom here first. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/angel.gif.fa7795fff6653f4381ba158c55a48b74.gif
Between what you said, and your quote from kyle, it sounded as if you were saying the original Nuclear was a re badged TC driver, it wasn't. If that was not your meaning, sorry. *shrug*

It was my understanding that the actual "Ground Zero" (not GZ USA) was based overseas all along, that GZ USA was just a spin-off/partner company, and that the original GZ never went out of business and is still operating as the current "GZ". I may be wrong, but that's how I remembered it going down... maybe I missed a chapter later down the road?

I bet you didn't want a Nuke as bad as I did. lol I still can't remember why I ended up buying PPI Pro's instead though. *slouch*

Cheers.
umm.. as far as not starting the argumentative stuff again- no intentions of it.. its not important as to my feelings about you, or vice versa:)- i simply did not understand your reply... i never stated that the original nuke had anything to do with tc.. only the new one does... as far as i know- what happened with gz was as i stated it (although- like you i could have missed/misinterpreted something along the way:))

do you remember the pictures of the original ground zero "plutonium" prototype photos? (the ground zero usa ones, NOT the current ones) thing was MASSIVE..good times:)

btw- how did you like the pro's? a buddy of mine has a used set of the pro's in his garage.. they look like neat little subs:)

Just a misunderstanding... probably on my part. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
The original pics of the Pultonium... yes I remember. lol Massive is a good word for it.. especially back then when nobody else really had anything to compare wth the Nuke, let alone that new beast. It was suppose to be the sub to end all subs, then the GZ USA commotion, and the IDMax and W7 came out, and everyone seemed to forget the GZ drivers. I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the old Plutonium again, maybe I'll try and look one up for us later.

I still remember one kid one the boards had a nuke in a mini truck. He bragged that thing to high heaven, and even claimed it cracked his windshield more than once. Half the board hated his guts cuz his sub blew theirs away and they knew it, the other half of the board envied him. Wish I could remember his screen name.

The pro's are nice. Sound quality driver for sure. I ran mine in a sealed box with about 500 watts to the pair. They were accurate and dry (in a good way), not too over stated. I never tried them out in a ported box, but Im told they do well in them. They just sit in my closet now, beside 40 billion other pieces I dont use. lol

no hard feelings:) i googled ground zero plutonium and most of the subs that came up are the newer ones (with the ti basket in yellow or black) the only other one that came up was this one-

pw12spl.jpg

from here- http://www.pwmcarsystems.nl/product_info.php?productname=Ground-Zero-Plutonium-GZPW-12SPL-30-cm-/-12"-subwoofer&products_id=1253&osCsid=2fd6f79ff3172e9f5334be7ec701b44d

and i don't think that that is it... i suppose it may be hard to find pictures of an out of date sub from a company that doesn't exist anymore:(

that is some good info on the pro's.. i may try and buy em from him... i already have to much stuff, though:)

do you perchance remember better audio? i had a couple of their amps (1600m1, made by destijl) they had a sub that was supposed to come out looked like an hc knockoff (and probably was considering the amps were the same as the re 35.1(?) wonder whatever happened with that project...

good times (reminiscing...)

EDIT: holy shit- i just went to the better audio website and clicked on products.. what is the sub pictured there? are they back up and running after what, 5 years?

Yeah that sub on BA's site is huge... unless its a 6-1/2 lol. I do notice it says "Prototype pictured above does visually differ from production units" which to me usually means "this product is grossly huge to atract your attention, the actual product will be much more realistic". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It is pretty though.

Someone sold an original Nuke on ebay a while back. I was gonna buy it (and just throw it in a closet I guess lol) but wow, it was beat up. Looked like it had ridden around in a clothes dryer. I passed.

One warning on the PPI's... ok maybe 2. One, iirc they require a relatively large box by today's standards. And two, their xmax is dismal (5.5mm), dont expect alot of output unless you go ported. My pro's are 12's, the 15's were even cooler. Unlike most sub lines, PPI used a different/bigger motor for the 15" version. Yet another sub I wouldn't mind archiving away somewhere. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif A mint 15" pro sold on ebay a cpl months ago but sold for alot more than I thought it was worth. *shrug*

If you can get around the downfalls of the driver, they sound quite good. Im running dual IDQ 10's in one setup right now, and honestly after thinking about it, Im not sure why I went with IDQ's. As phenomenal as IDQ's sound, imo the pro's sound abit better. Again no experience with them ported however, just been told they still hold their composure when vented. Might be a fun project for you if you can pick them up cheap. For their day, the ppi pro's were remarkably advanced (custom flat frame/suspension, first sub to use the nomex/carbon fiber flat cones common on the flat pston subs these days, ferrofluid cooling, etc). I cant seem to part with my pro's cuz they were just so cool. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

actually- (in case you missed it perchance) the picture on the better audio page is a clickable link.. thatt goes to the old designs.. also- hoss (a member here) had/has a nuke for sale (the original)... i am curious about the pic on the ba website, though...
