i've never heard of this brand but i "experienced" a set of them today and man, and this set was fawking loud...

i was at my buddies shop and one of his friends was there with his explorer, he was pretty much leaving when i was getting there.

but when i got there i heard him bumping from the parking lot entrance which is probably 90 feet to the back of the bays...i never actually saw the the setup, but the guy was telling me that he had 2 15" plutoniums off an MTX 4001 he said that it was putting out just about 3900 @ 1 and they were in a massive ported enclosure...

his car even with all the deadening they said they did was wicked noisy on the exterior....the aluminum awnings on my buddies shop were waving like crazy...

i was impressed with this setup, whats the story on this plutonium stuff?

Apparently Plutonium is the "top dog" subwoofer made by Ground Zero Mobile Audio. (subwoofer page for the "Absolute Power" line of subs which is apparently their highest-end sub offerings)

Google.

Learn It.

Love It.

Live it.

Finding that info took me

Edit: Chad beat me to it.....

Ground Zero's Nuclear was basically the first 'super sub'... extreme linear excursion capabilities. Maybe 6-8 years ago now they were all the rage on these very same boards. Then problems errupted with GZ USA (I dont recall the details), everyhting started coming from over seas exclusively and popularity dropped like a stone. *shrug*

Everyone use to want a "Nuke"... now hardly anyone has even heard of the comany anymore.

this isn't the same company.. ground zero usa went out of business, the this company bought the name, and went to tc sounds, had prototypes made, took em to Germany (if i remember correctly us patents don't carry over there) and then had Chinese build house build em...

GroundZero (we designed and manufactured their high end 3HP and 4HP drivers (I forget the name, something to do with a nuclear disaster) They still use our basket and went right around us and bought directly from our vendor and claimed because they were only selling in Europe, they were not violating our "US" patent. This is true and we are seeking German patents now. Even worse, they still use our exact motors which we can't patent because they have been out longer than 1 year.
from caj.com... take that info for what its worth:)

i was about to say that motor sure looks ALOT like a 4hp...

TC has been around since 87, making them old enough to have worked on the original GZ Nuclear. But if they did, why was GZ the only out at the time with that motor/driver? TC did not have a competing sub for the Nuke, nobody did. At least not that they were selling to the public. It was the release of the W7 and IDMax that were meant to compete with it.

IIRC it was about the time the Plutonium was being released (year or two after the Nuke, suppose to be an upgrade to it) that the GZ USA shitstorm kicked up.

I wouldn't mind having a Nuke nowadays, just for nostalgia if nothing else. They were 'the beef' back in their day. They use to cause quite a commotion on these boards, people trying to compete with the Nukes using Alchemies and Exacts. lol

dunno what your argument is.. the original ground zero had nothing to do with tc sounds (as far as i know, could be wrong) the company that is out now IS NOT the original ground zero... it is a company that bought the name. tc did not sell directly to the public when the original ground zero was around... i remember when the nuke was popular.. i used to want one SOO bad:)

Don't start the arguementative stuff again, lets remember who replied to whom here first. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/angel.gif.fa7795fff6653f4381ba158c55a48b74.gif
Between what you said, and your quote from kyle, it sounded as if you were saying the original Nuclear was a rebadged TC driver, it wasn't. If that was not your meaning, sorry. *shrug*

It was my understanding that the actual "Ground Zero" (not GZ USA) was based overseas all along, that GZ USA was just a spin-off/partner company, and that the original GZ never went out of business and is still operating as the current "GZ". I may be wrong, but that's how I remembered it going down... maybe I missed a chapter later down the road?

I bet you didn't want a Nuke as bad as I did. lol I still can't remember why I ended up buying PPI Pro's instead though. *slouch*

Cheers.
