Entry Level Components

Like the topic says, I just want something cheap, in a 6.5" size to put in my truck. They will be run off a 50x2 amp and mounted in the kicks. I listen to a bit of everything, but mostly rock/metal. Here's a few I've found that look alright:

-Alpine Type S

-JL Audio TR

-Infinity Reference

-JBL GTO

Any suggestions?

in that range the alpines if you really are just looking between those but if you are making kicks and if you look at adidas's camery install log andif you can get an angle on your kicks like he did a set of mtx 6000's would work pretty **** good. what it might lack in tonal sound it would more than make up for in price/ ease of setting up and staging (meaning it will put the sound where it should be and not get cluttered).

MTX 6000's you say? How are they priced in comparison to the rest of my list. The list isn't written in stone at all or anything, just thrown together of some speakers I'm familiar with. I'm also looking at Pioneer Revs, as they can be had for a decent price sometimes, and I've always liked their sound.

i seen them for 70ish bucks. im not going to lie to you and say they were totally awesome but they were far far far from bad. the way they go together its just an easy set up with what i would call better than average results. the kicks would be the hard part though

I really like the REVs myself, but I've only seen em for $175-150.... which isnt MY definition of cheap exactly.

I was gonna get some revs, but I liked the JL-VR650csi's a tiny bit more and I finally found em for just under $200, so I got those instead //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I just had a set of JBL GTO 5x7 comps go bad within 3 weeks. RF amp at 50w rms per channel. Infinity refs are installed now, they sound a bit better and havent had any probs.

Any suggestions?
Look into the Boston Acoustics FS60, I have them cheap 'n nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'd go to infinitecaraudio.com and check out thier DLS stuff. That is what I plan on getting for my sister's car when i do her system next month.

I own the infinity refernce 6000cs and can say they are pretty good for the money but I would lean towards the DLS stuff. The infinities are a little harsh.

I have never like alpine speakers but thats just me.......

Berry47,

What line of DLS do you own? I'm interested in the DLS R6A - 6.5" 2-Way Comp Set. It is not the entry level but also not the top of the line model.
