Enough volume to port, or stay sealed? HELP!

Right now, i have 2 Alpine SWR-1221D's ('04 model, not new version) in a sealed box that is about 2.64 cu ft (each sub is seeing 1.32 cu ft). My question is, do i have enough volume to port the subs? I was planning on going eather 1 4" port, 8.85" long, or 2 3" ports, 11.06" long. I have had them for a year, and want some more low notes. Would it be worth my time to port them, or would i not see any differences ported than sealed?

I really appreciate all of the responces.

if i was you i think that i would just leave it sealed, what do your subs recommend sealed volume, and what do they recommend ported? cuz i dont think your box is quite big enought to go ported.

Dude, don't screw up your sealed box . . . MDF 3/4" wood is 19.88 a sheet at Home Depot. Just build another box. Another thing, make sure it is tuned to A.) Your car and B.) Your subs. This is very important if you want it just right. See which one you like best, so if you don't like the ported box, just sell it. You never know, you might just want to switch them out ever so often . . ..

I have thought about just building another box, maybe a little bit bigger. I have read up a lot, and everyone says to tune the old model Type R's low, around 28-32 hz, so thats what i probably will do. I understand how to tune the box to the subs, but how do i tune it to my car? Little confused on that part.

I dunno, that is just what everyone told me . . . . LoL. Obviously people contradict theirselves around here. I was told that the bigger sized sub (Inch Wise) was meant more for deeper bass, but when I shared their knowledge, I was "crushed" and told that I was wrong x2. I was also told that 12" subs would get a lil' of both worlds, high and low bass, and I am supposedly also wrong. I just try to share what other people on this forum tell and share with me and others. So watch what people tell ya, they tend to contradict theirselves around here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It's a bunch of bs if you ask me.

The way I think of it . . . . . if you have a freaking expedition or something, you can do more with your box, right? And if you have a Cavilier, you are limited on space. That is kinda what I meant by the whole tuning thing. Sorry for the confusion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

i get ya, i guess i will start making a box just to see how it sounds, if i dont like it, i'll burn it or something!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
