Hi Techies:
I plan to get a dual voice coil Alpine SWR-843D 8" Sub-woofer and build a sealed enclosure in a BMW E46 (3-series 325CI) convertible ski-pass shoot. This way the sub will fire directly into the cabin.
Sub is rated "UP TO 350w RMS."
I am using Alpine MRP-F450 four channel amp to power the front components and will bridge the rear two channels to power the sub. The amp is stable and rated at 4 Ohms bridged at 200w RMS.
Sub will be wired in series to achieve 8 Ohms which will be bridged down to four at the amp.
Do you think this is sufficient power for a sealed box (built to factory optimum sealed volume of 0.3ft^3) which will be firing into the cabin?
I appreciate the thoughts on getting a dedicated mono class D amp. BUT I am working on a budget, would like a clean and efficient install, and my goal is clean sound, not winning competitions or shaking another car's rear view.
I look forward to your responses...
